Who are our main rivals?

We're currently sat 3rd with Forest & Watford above us. Which TWO teams do you think pose the biggest threat to us not getting automatic promotion?

I know that it is early doors & that potentially anyone in the top ten could finish 1st or 2nd but now that we have had a little look at the opposition, who are you most worried/impressed by?

For me it's Derby & Forest.

I'd have to go with Forest & Watford if the latter can keep hold of Deeney. Derby close third.

But before the season had kicked off I thought Wigan would win the league, so what do I know!

Blimey CanaryBoy only 4 games gone out of 46 and you look as though you are prepared to abandon your prediction about Wigan already ? As they say it is a marathon not a sprint but mind you I am not saying I fancy Wigan.

Derby are as good as anyone in this league, and with Kenwyne Jones Cardiff will always be good for a goal or two. I consider those two teams the favourites, along with Norwich, for automatic promotion.

I think Forest will fall away, good first XI but very little depth and Stuart Pearce will at some point do something ridiculous like when he use to play David James as a striker at Man City.

Watford will be up and around there if they keep Troy Deeney and Vydra.

Middlesborough are quietly building a good squad, especially with all the Chelsea loan players and they might be the team to put a late run towards the top.

A lot will depend on what happens this week in the transfer market but also what then happens when the Premier League start loaning their young players out. Adding a Ake here or a Bamford there and you suddenly turn an average Championship team into a good one.

Interesting choice, I think they'll do well to be top 10!

Forest and Cardiff for me as well. Watford and Derby will also be pressing though. Blackburn and Wolves beyond that, but I don't see Wolves scoring enough goals to compete for top two.

As Bethnal says, Forest always seem to fall away, so cant see them being long-term contenders, but will likely be there or thereabouts when it comes to the play-offs. Fulham could be a threat if they sort things out over this next week, or they could go down to League One if they dont

I suspect that, Wigan excepted,  I think the main contenders are in the top half of the table already.

Wolves are bit unknown but have momentum, charlton  millwall & Weds aill probably fall back and its unclear whether Bournemouth have a deep enough squad. 

I had a tip that Middlesborough would do well this season, so echo Bethnals comments, so although they have started inconsistently there are well placed.

Derby & Cardiff look the most likely.

It helps if you've been there or thereabouts before and I'm sure that Derby are very determined to try to avoid the play-offs this year.

I think Cardiff will be our main competitors this season, good first eleven and a decent squad to handle the avalanche of fixtures at Christmas. I do agree with Bethnal Yellow And Green that although Forrest have a very good starting 11 and have started on fire, a couple of injuries and they could really fall off due to their lack of depth. Derby will always be there or there abouts and I do think Wigan will make a push this year. Bournemouth I feel will drop off.

I'm going to go with Cardiff and Derby as our two main rivals with Forrest a not so distant third.

Just got my Cardiff tickets in the post today, seems from the above that this will be a big game. Personally I don't rate OGS, he had time to save them from the drop but they went down with a whimper - am confident that we can get something there.

For automatic places Deby and Cardiff for me, but it's going to be an interesting end to the window and loan period. As Bethnal says, a really good addition can turn an average side into a good one in this league.

Yep got to go with the majority...Derby and Cardiff the most likely.

But if we play to our capabilities then we are the team the others should be concerned about.
