Who is Norwich City's best ever signing?

Excluding, generally short term loans, (or if there is a compelling case to be made alright then), who would you highlight as outstanding signings for Norwich?

Generally Id say a good signing probably means value for money - but also, you could highlight examples of when we recognized talent but wasnt necessarily cheap, or even players that gave great service to the club.

In terms of value for money (and due to the recency effect) Cameron Jerome deserves a mention. A steal at the price we got him for, proved many a fan wrong and generally exceeded expectations.

Dean Ashton was also a great signing in that he was prolific for us, came so close to making the difference, and we made a reasonable profit on him. Hucks obviously was a major catalyst for us, Iwan was a talisman, Holt was pivotal and both Ruddy and Hoolahan have been very influential. Drury gave us many years of consistent service.

But who would you give a special mention to as a superb signing for the club?

In my time, Hucks every day of the week.

Grant Holt for £400k. Top scorer in four consecutive seasons across three different divisions.

Martin Peters at a canter. World cup winner, and scorer. Couldn't believe it when I heard.

For me it has to be Hux. He regularly won games virtually on his own.

Really got me thinking, there have been so many, but in my time..

all very close though, but all three would for me get in the category that comes above "Legend"  as there are too many players classified as a legend when it then excludes such greats as these.

Huckerby. Remember when he was unveiled on Boxing Day? Best Christmas ever.

Peters by a country mile, and what a servant he turned out to be. Lifted the club to a new level as did Hux more recently, but Hux wasn't  a World Cup winner.

In terms of a relative unknown who became an incredible player I'd say Kevin Reeves.

Huckerby for me as he single handedly transformed a mid table squad with a defence that was conceding goals faster than any in the previous 10 seasons into true champions with the tightest defence simply by taking the opposition back 10 yards.  

Peters was superb and a clear second,   but while he was excellent his impact on the team was not quite as profound

Holt in third, talismanic but not alone in driving us up the table,   without wes his influence was not as significant. 

And would agree on reeves - a stunning talent

In terms of the right player at the right time, for me, it is certainly difficult to look beyond Hucks.
