Who is our best Outfield Player?

I voted Tettey, but amazed to see Michael Turner there with no votes, especially when other defenders have more.

I voted for Wes, in this league he is the difference for me.

He doesn't need to score that many goals as long as he keeps us ticking. I still fully expect him to get 6-8 anyway. He has essentially three forwards playing in front of him, so this argument he should score more should be directed just as much if not more at Lafferty and Redmond (or whoever else plays in those positions) as I bet Wes's combined goals and assists will be more than either of those come the end of the season.

We have consistently failed to replace or find competition for Wes, maybe the new belgian lad will be it, but until he proves that Wes is the best we have at keeping this side ticking.

But Turner would be next. Turner is hugely underrated IMO and has been the best CB at the club for some time.

I acknowledge and appreciate the debate about Wes but still maintain that he makes us tick 

and as such is our best outfield player as we have been asked to select one.

However as we all know it is about the team / squad and every player has a part of play.

Based on what I have seen so far, Tettey by a mile. Honourable mentions to Ruddy and Turner. Could all change completely over the next 10 games!

If it was how son, then he would be a dead cert for starting 11. When fit, would he come in? Probably not. Can't see who you would leave out that he would do a better job than. Therefore if he isn't nailed on for the first 11 I don't think he can be our best player.

I don't think any place is nailed on apart from Ruddy which is why we're doing so well.

I could easily see in the coming weeks for instance:

Hooper for Grabban

Howson or VOO for Hoolahan, Tettey or Johnson

Murphy for Redmond

Jerome for Lafferty

Bennett and Hooiveld for Turner and Martin (or whatever combo)

Whittaker for Martin

Garrido for Olsson

I think once this season gets going, Redmond will be the main ace in our pack which is why I put him. I know it's a bit of a prediction but i think we'll really start to see him shine through soon now he's choosing to cross more.

I voted Tettey. Most consistently good all season for me. Really stands out in this league and seems to be loving his football at the moment. I'd like to think he was one of the first names on the team sheet for now.

I think that's the hardest question I've been faced with in a very long time. Its almost like asking what's your favourite movie or song, its too subjective.

Maybe break down for each position?

On this season so far:

CB: Turner

FB: Olsson

CM: Hoolahan

Wing: Redmond
ST: Grabban

But of course this can all change when we see all the new signings playing regularly. I still think Hooper will be better than Grabban, and the new Belgian midfielder looks very promising, and I still really rate Howson more than Hoolahan as he is a more rounded player, especially for the prem...

He got injured before it and was struggling. Every player has off days, i think that's the first time i'd seen him play bad for us.

Then after his suspension he had a bereavement meaning he's only just been ready to return. You failed to mention the fact he scored in his other game.

Howson... Now this one confuses me. I can't really see what impact he has had during his time with us. I'm not having a go, I do like him, I just always hear a lot of fans saying he's our best player when I can't see any factual evidence for that at all! Maybe he'll have more chance to shine in this lower division, heres hoping

Other than a couple of nice goals, I kind of get your point J4G. I lkie him and think he's a good player but to be labelled our best player is something else.

I voted Tettey because he really does seem immense at this level and his passing which often seemed a weak point in the Premier League is either improving or he simply has more time to pick his pass. However, the reality is that on the showings so far this season almost any player could have got the vote. The real strength so far this season has been the teamwork and the effectiveness as a unit which has allowed different players to flourish at different times.

It will be interesting to see how and when Hooper and Howson might fit into the team. Tettey, Johnson and Hoolahan have all been consistently excellent. Seeing VOO in the flesh for the first time last night the first thing that struck me was how big he is and he looks more likely to be competing for Tettey or Johnson's place, although he played mainly wide right when he came on last night so a little hard to judge.

If we play similarly to last night then it is hard to imagine Hooper putting in the shift that Grabban and Jerome did. Grabs did not score but he worked his socks off and dragged defenders all over the place while Jerome's pace and power completely unsettled the Brentford CBs.

I guess all this does is demonstrate what an incredibly strong squad we have. If NA continues to manage it as skilfully as he has done so far then we will have several players in the Championship team of the season to go with promotion but very early days yet....

Difficult when we still have new players like Jerome and Hooiveld just coming into the side. Odjidja could be a huge player for us, but we need to see him and others play. Jerome seems to have hit the ground running and also could be a huge player, especially as Grabban's goals have dried up of late. Exciting times!

A little harsh, especially considering Turners tap in against Cardiff was half a second away from being Grabbans goal!  Don't think he's on the scrap heap quite yet...

Olsson is the most consistently good performer at top-flight level, so he gets it for me. Tettey a close second, and Redmond has the potential to be the best player we've had since Huckerby, but whether he fulfils it is open for question. The people who think Bradley Johnson is our best player must value 'a good engine' above any technical ability - he's been great so far this season, admittedly, but at top-flight level he's little more than a clogger.
