Will Adams' Wes obsession cost us promotion?

The fact is Wes is not the player he was four seasons ago. This season his good games are fewer than ever, and the opposition is not as good. Tetty and Johnson have both scored twice to Wes once. His end result does not justify his automatic starting position. I would not be unhappy if he picks up a small injury while on international duty so that we are forced to play a couple of games without him. This could be beneficial to our season, and give Wes a rest from which, hopefully, he will come back rejuvenated.

I tend to disagree, MG. Wes is a rejuvenated player this season and is at the heart of attacking play. Using the 4-4-2 has made it more difficult for him, but he is still playing well, IMO. At 32 and with international commitments, however, he is not going to be able to play every game. I'm still wondering what Plan B is - a 4-4-2 with Nathan and Josh? Are Howson, Odjidja-Ofoe and McGrandles options for the ACM role? I hope so.

I'm not sure I'm a great fan of Hoolahan and Johnson in the same team when you're looking to break down opposition getting everyone behind the ball. Both are prone to slowing the play down.

And I do think, as I have done for a good couple of years now, we need to learn how to play without Hoolahan. But that's not to say he shouldn't be an important player for us.
