Will Farke be here by the end of the month?

Why is it that I've been overcome by a deep sense of dread and question whether we are the latest basket case club and Farke is going to walk before the first game after seeing all of his best players sold? 

He's come out and said how much he likes Howson and doesn't want him to leave. I doubt he was too keen for Dorrans to leave either, and if Jerome leaves we'll be selling one of the leagues top strikers (that's how I perceive him).

Meanwhile he's going to be stuck with Tettey who is past it, Jarvis who can't get out of bed without pulling a muscle, a League 2 standard goalkeeper competing with a goalkeeper who has never kicked a ball in a competitive game, and Wildschut who came here for 700% more than his value. 

We've only got one left back, and one right back, and astonishingly we suddenly seem to be short on centre midfielders, arguably the one part of the pitch which had sufficient quality and depth. 

Sorry to spread negativity, but this looks and smells like the Grant / Roeder / Gunn era again. Inexperienced kids on loans and left field signings from the German 4th division.

I quite liked the sound of shipping out the deadwood and bringing in some youth.... but Dorrans, Howson, Jerome, arguably Ruddy, those wouldn't have been on my list, and Declan Rudd may well never be of Premier League standard, but we're not in the bloody Premier League are we? 

Would anybody be standing up to take notice if little Preston, Ipswich or Millwall had made the 6 signings we've made this summer? I don't think they would. 

I'd love for somebody to bump this in October with us in the top 6 and telling me to eat my words, can't see it happening though.

To be fair I think Farke would have been made aware of what Webber was planning before he came in.

Well that's my point, I really hope that we are sticking to the script. Because Webber could quite as easily have planned to ship out other players and retain Howson, Dorrans and Jerome, but had to deviate from the plan when he realised how many players he was stuck with couldn't he?

It would have been more logical to sell Naismith, because we have Maddison to replace him, but if there are no takers for him then selling Howson could be Plan B, or Plan C.

I don't know much, but this is beginning to look a little like chaos to me.

It looks like the shake up that was desperately needed, to me.

And way too early to judge if it is a success or a failure yet.

We're still looking at clearing out the deadwood. As I said in the other thread, Nick Mashiter reported that we have deemed Wildschut, McGovern and Jarvis surplus. That for me would only leave Andreu, Naismith and Klose to ship out, which we have around 2 months to do. 

Howson wanted to move ultimately, Dorrans is more than replaceable, and in all honesty I don't think Jerome will leave. 

As Morty says, it's too early to judge anything. Obviously it was only a friendly against a poor side but the early signs are that Vrancic is a very good player. Zimmermann in all honesty we know nothing about, but the other signings we've made, Gunn, Watkins and Reed, are ones I'm happy with. Plus we will be bringing in I imagine at least 3 new players (LB, CB, CM), probably more. 

I imagine Webber probably wouldn't have wanted to sell Howson, however he's now got £6m which he wouldn't of anticipated having, and can use some of that to sign a replacement. If I had to guess, although it looks chaotic everything is roughly on course. It was always going to look chaotic ultimately, because we're having a big squad overhaul. If we sell Jerome I will start to worry but until then I am going to reserve my judgement until the end of the window, this is what a lot of Norwich fans, myself included, desperately wanted to happen this summer to be fair.

We have deemed them surplus but that doesn't mean anybody else wants them, clubs often get stuck with players that they don't want. Pretty sure we deemed Michael Turner surplus last summer but that didn't mean anybody was willing to take over his contract. That's what I'm saying. 

Still, I suppose a couple of signings which look decent on paper and my optimism meter may move back into 'glass half full'.

I'm really not panicking about selling players that have consistently failed for the club, again and again. I know Howson and Dorrans had a lot of fans, and you can include me in those, but the reality is, they were a big part of the team that got us relegated with a whimper and then thoroughly fucked last season up. We've had the same spine in our team for far too long and this shake up has been a long time coming.
