We’re now at the stage where everyone in the country suddenly follows football. Girls at work are now telling me how much they’re looking forward to the match. The only downside of the WC is the "casual" fans who turn into experts. The other day I had to endure a colleague telling me that Vardy should be starting and I noted that at least 4 players he could only refer to by position and not name.

In fairness in the past couple of years I've watched hardly any footy which didn't involve Norwich.... didn't even know who Trent Alexander-Arnold was when he made it onto the pitch against Belgium I'm so out of the loop
