Close between Grant and Roeder in my lifetime. Gonna go with Roeder though, simply because he effectively relegated us, and he released Huckerby.

Peter Grant gets my vote, narrowly over Hamilton and Roeder. Why? Because he was given very decent resources and wasted it on a load of dross players leaving virtually nothing for his successor, left a absolute mess and few have ever acknowledged it!

Voted for Roeder more out of hatred than his ability, he did keep us up. Peter Grant and Megson were a (joint)

2nd

Peter Grant was a disaster, but I've voted Roeder because he is the only one of those that I have a genuine dislike for as a person. At least Grant had the humility to admit that things weren't working out, took personal responsibility and tendered his resignation.

Bryan Hamilton. His 15.6 win percentage says it all really! Roeder at least had one successful season before he completely lost it!

Roeder. For aforementioned reasons but also for what happened with Huckerby. Weakened our squad due to his (Roeders) ego

Roeder. So bad I wouldn't even wish him on the binners.

I cant really vote for Roeder because he was excellent when he first came in. Stopped the rot, drew a line and saved the club from relegation - no question. This doesnt make him a bad manager. However, the poor man management, arrogant demeanor, poor use of 5m on loan fees and agents fees, and this pervading idea that there were only a few talented players out there and that they were all in Premier League academies and that our transfer policy should be to spend our money on loaning these hot prospects does. But for what he achieved in the first instance I cant vote for him. Whereas Peter Grant however achieved very little and established the rot. I think Roeders draconian actions made Grants period look worse (I mean would other managers have just written off some of Grants favourites in the way he did, or would they have given them a chance?), but Roeders actions did turn the club around. So Grant, as much as I liked him as a person and a player has to get my vote. Especially as he called it quits on management after that. From what I've heard he's a great coach, but the management thing just didnt work out for him. Everyone hated Roeder though, so I fully expect him to top the poll. Think he's the most unpopular manager in recent years

Gunny for me. City legend, lovely bloke but hopeless manager.

Think it's a bit harsh voting for Gunn. Inherited a pretty poor squad from Roeder, full of loanees and some quite frankly awful players. Our form picked up quite a lot after he first took over, and it was only in the last few games of that season that we started to fall apart. And in League 1 he was only in charge for one (admittedly terrible game against Colchester) league game, before being sacked. So he wasn't really given a chance. It was a great decision to sack him and bring Lambert in, but I don't think he can go down as our worst ever manager.

Hamilton for me, Roeder was a  nasty individual, but we are not voting on that. Hamilton just seemed clueless in the job and as YF said 15.6 win percentage say's it all

Gone for Roeder, he did get that dead cat bounce in his first season but he also took what was overall a pretty terrible squad and somehow managed to make it worse. Grant escapes for recognising his own short comings, Gunn left us Grant Holt, (Roeder got wessi but canceled it out by releasing hucks) and Hamilton escapes by virtue of not asking fans when they became England manager, something probably only SAF or Bob Paisly could have reasonably expected to get away with long term.

Luckily worst doesn't quantify whether the manager had the worst record, ideas, transfers or personality.

So if its just who was the worst to have in the job it has to be Roeder for me, whether he kept us up or not he did lasting damage under an air of unfounded arrogance.

How can it not posibly quantify any of those? Lasting damage? What do you quantify as "Lasting then"? Fair enough if in your oppinion the guy is arrogant, you surely can't judge a managers success on whether you like him or not?

Bryan Hamilton served up the worst football and the worst "squad" I have ever seen, worse even than our League One squad.

Roeder was clearly an almighty arsehead, but he did well in his first season.  Hamilton was just simply god-awful.

Because the question doesn't. It doesn't say "Who did the worst job as Norwich City Manager?", or "Who was the least successful Norwich City Manager?" it just asks "Who is the worst ever Norwich City Manager?".

For me that is Roeder. He was an unlikable personality with a poor record and a terrible transfer policy that left us with a threadbare squad having squandered millions on loans. He also released arguably our most effective player for years, when it was clear he still had the ability to play for us, for what still seems like no other reason than his own arrogance. I may be mistaken, but we also got relegated his last season, so on top of his wastefulness and poor transfer policy I would call that lasting damage. Luckily Lambert and McNally turned that around but we could have so easily have done a Charlton or Leeds.
