Well this is the point in a poll isn't it, a few more people agree with you than agree with me (55/45).

But to answer your presumably rhetorical question with a rhetorical question of my own:

We should undermine our manager and risk dressing room harmony by bringing back a potentially disruptive player?

Adams seems to have a happy dressing room, and the respect of the players. We've seen several important squad members commit to the club and sign new deals. Why are we questioning his judgement on Bassong?

We don't know the ins and outs, and yes it could be six of one and half a dozen of the other, but I'll be backing the manager here. Adams has always come across as a likeable and amiable chap to me, and not the type to fall out with people. If he has everybody but Bassong on board then perhaps the problem here is with Bassong?

One thing I will say about the Bassong situation is that it may not have gone this wrong if he'd never have been made captain.

He had a fantastic first season but was the clown of the dressing room, and made a couple of very poor errors of judgement (police finding an illegal weapon in his car, and then posting a photo of him holding a gun on twitter). That was in his first season. 

He was a stupid choice as captain, but if he hadn't have been made captain then Adams wouldn't have had to strip him of the armband. That has surely played a part in their falling out?

Yeah, quite. The problem was not Bassong signing the contract, it was Hughton offering it and the board allowing it to be offered. Footballers are mercenaries, with very few exceptions; it's just a question of degree.
