Would you take a draw at Cardiff?

'Would you take a draw Saturday?'  - one of the most common questions leading up to most away games, but I think it's particularly relevant this week as we're against another relegated club. 

While I'd say we're in a better position than Cardiff are, it's still going to be a very difficult game against an in-form side.  But you could say the same about us, so why should we settle for a point? 

Personally, I wouldn't take a draw. The nature of this league is that any team can beat anyone home or away every week, so it may just be our week. Even if we lose, we can still get 3 points on Tuesday.  And obviously winning 1 and losing 1 is better than drawing both.  Maybe I'm finally getting any Chris Hughton mentality out of my system!

If at the final whistle we have a point, I'll be happy with it, will probably prove to be one of the toughest fixtures this season and it would keep our unbeaten run going. 

We need to be beating our promotion rivals at home though.

of course all of us would prefer a win,    but if its a draw it has to be seen as very good result away to one of the better sides in the league.

Picking up a point at any away game has surely got to be somewhat respectable, but having heard for 2 season how great our opposition was, how nice it is to hear Adams sound so positive and was after nothing less than 6pts from the next 2 away games. So i say no to 1 point, COME ON CITY!

Id be happy with a draw. An away point to one of your rivals is a good result. I think we need momentum, so anything which helps us maintain an unbeaten run is a good thing

All my mates said that they'd take a draw before the Ipswich game, I was the only one who said I wouldn't and that paid off well 

That said though, I probably would take a draw now. This is arguably our most difficult game of the season on paper, and a draw certainly wouldn't be a bad result.

As another 'old boy', I'd never take a draw before a match. A draw would be OK, but if you're after promotion you need to go for a win every game. OTBC!

Most fans would probably take a draw away from home against one of the supposedly "Title favourites". I guess, however, how satisfied you'd be with a draw after 90 minutes will largely be determined by how we'd played during the game itself. However, without the benefit of hindsight, at this moment in time, I want nothing less than a thumping win in our favour. OTBC

I am with Andy on this one. It was a blow last time around having played so well. With the squad available to us I think that we can keep pushing until the end to force a win. Their fans are predicting a classic but a Cardiff win. Of course an away draw is good but let's set up for a win.

Draw would be a good result, as we all know Cardiff have a reasonable squad, and is always quite a daunting place to go, however we do owe them one and I hope we go out there and *bleep* give them some

This season, above all others, has to be positive from start to finish.   The moment you start with stepping back from being totally positive is when you risk losing that positive force.  We've got the positivity now and we have to keep it, even if we draw or lose a game occasionally.  Go for a win every match, even if losing or drawing up to 89 minutes. Being totally focused on winning does work, as shown with Lambert and the club is approaching that level of positivity again - with a better quality squad than Lambert had too - so the only way to be this season is positive about every match.

Settle for a draw now?

This is an interesting thread.

Last season it was widely regarded that we should EXPECT to win at Cardiff; what has changed?

We're both playing at a level lower but has their squad suddenly improved? Is ours so much weaker? We battered them twice last season and came out with one point, is that why we're talking about taking one point now?

If we (the Royal we) thought that we should be winning this fixture last season, I see no apparent reason why we shouldn't expect to win it this. Or is it that we've had our expectations realigned following relegation? If that's the case are we admitting that we were expecting too much last season or are we giving this seasons squad soft targets?

I'm sure we'll set out to win the game. The key, predictably, will be taking our chances which we haven't done quite so well in the last two fixtures but isn't it strange that we regarded this as a SHOULD win fixture last season but don't seem anywhere near as bullish this time around despite being in decent form.

Take a draw? Nah, but it would definitely be preferable to a defeat.

I'd always take a point away from home, unless we were playing the bottom six.  But I feel we owe Cardiff after their luck last season, so am hoping for more.
