Would you work for another club?

I have recently received an email inviting me to apply for a role at a football club near to me (I dont live in Norwich).

Im not really that interested in the role, but I have to admit being part of a football club (even one I have no connection to) and being part of the matchday team would be quite exciting from a purely football perspective. Im probably not going to apply (it would be a part time additional job to my current job not a replacement) but I was wondering what other people might do.

If you didnt live in Norwich, and your local team approached you, and even if you werent that interested in the role, would you take it up if it meant being part of professional football? Would club loyalty come into it for you at all?

I've worked full time for one football club and as a freelance consultant to three others.

I don't see how it has any baring to Norwich or my support for them personally.

The full time job was Arsenal - the others I can't name. Also worked for the FA and FIFA in short term roles.

Were these football roles or non-football roles? The role Im alluding to wouldnt be a footballing role as such. I have no football expertise beyond Football Manager! Always liked the idea of doing coaching badges though and maybe one day getting into youth coaching, probably when my kids get a bit older

Yes, it'd be a really interesting environment i bet!

Most clubs we don't have a rivalry with anyway or even compete in the same league, so i'd have no problems there. If say Ipswich came in for me to do some work i would be less inclined to work for them (probs wouldn't get paid anyway!)

I've worked as a steward at, Birmingham, Sheffield united, Leeds, Burnley and Huddersfield. My abiding memory is that I hate all their fans bar brum (Sheff united being the worst) and that South Yorkshire police are scum of the earth.

Sheff U v Cardiff. Cardiff fans were mostly families. SYP. Stopped them three miles from the ground & kettled them through some of the roughest areas of the city (some of the kids were as young as five or six). Deliberately slowed them down as they past the worst BBC pub, you cold hear stuff being smashed against the doors as BBC tried to get at them (they'd been locked in) then once in the ground they (SYP) stood in front of them taunting them & generally winding them up, then left stewards to sort out the trouble they had caused.

I wouldn't mind working for the Binners.  The accountancy bit would be fairly easy as there's not much coming in so I think I could have most of the week off and then avoid paying the bills on Fridays.  Wouldn't fancy working in their marketing department much, though I might suggest ripping off "Where's Wally?" and launching a "Where's Marcus?" book (you have to spot the hand in the till) to drive interest amongst the Ipswich youth fraternity.

As a qualified paleontologist, I could probably restore their trophy cabinet.

That's it though, I wouldn't stoop so low as to play for them.

I know someone who works in the backroom team at Villa. Does opposition scouting/player scouting and some tactical elements of first team preparation for games. Went on the pre-season tour, knows the squad personally etc.... He's a Birmingham City fan!

I don't think I have any qualifications to work at a footy club unless you count passion as a qualification.

Afraid not Ricardo, back in the mist of distant times when I was nowt but a young lad I was dragged to Carrow Road to see my first ever footy match.

I became hooked that day and fell in love with Norwich City FC............no one else ever came close.

this reminds me of when City advertised for a company secretary in the late 90s.  I wasn't experienced enough to apply for it, a few years later I could have done.  But as it happens the job went to a certain N Doncaster and the rest, as they say, is history.

As for working for another club, sure, I certainly would, except I couldn't work for the binners.
