The talk about Lafferty leaving has been going on for months. Why do u think it didn't work for him.

For the same reason that we signed him, he's over rated.

I don't think he has as many options as you are making out, seems to be begging for Rangers to take him back every other month.

My biggest problem with Lafferty is that when he isn't up for it he is useless, and when he is up for it he looks like a red card waiting to happen. He is a likeable character but strikes me as a bit of a nut job to be honest. 

I'll back Alex Neil on this one, he either doesn't rate him or just doesn't like him. Either way I'll trust the managers judgement.

I don't believe AN has done the strikers at this club too many favours. I think he really needs to evaluate where he went wrong last season and think of his options. However, we may never know whether he wanted more of better players last summer. His admittance that we didn't do good business last summer makes me believe he was as guilty as the board in the dealings.

As much as players rule the roost, I don't see any point in keeping a player, such as Lafferty, if he has next to no chance of playing.

Well usually it comes down to potential suitors not being able to match current wages, the same reason that Van Wolfswinkel is here, there is obviously a big disparity between what our players are on and players at the likes of Leeds are earning.

Lafferty's over-rated because he's done well at international level. If you put him in a team that suits his style and boost his confidence then he will probably do decent at this level, not a lot more than that though, which for a team like us who will be going for promotion, isn't good enough.

Lafferty could probably do quite well for a bottom half Championship side where he's a bigger fish and one of the first names on the team sheet. If he went to Blackburn or Huddersfield he'd probably do pretty well. That's the problem though isn't it, what those sides can offer in wages are probably a fraction of what he's on right now. Nobody can blame him for not wanting to take a big pay cut and nobody can blame us for not wanting to subsidise the wages of a player who could score against us. 

Quite telling that neither of Burnley or Rangers have fancied taking him back on the cheap though considering he moved between the two clubs for £3m, obviously the former are a Premier League side this season but they haven't been for the past two seasons. 

Feel a bit bad slagging him off because he hasn't done anything wrong, seems like a nice bloke and puts a shift in and isn't a crap player as such - just isn't top end Championship material and that's where we are aiming to be.

Back of a fag packet but if he's on £15,000 a week here until summer 2017, and a team like Huddersfield are willing to pay him £7500 a week, he'd be writing off over £300k in wages (gross) between now and the end of the season to join them. 

If I were a Championship striker approaching 29 years of age, one who by all accounts has erm.. 'enjoyed himself' a lot when younger, I wouldn't be writing off a six figure sum either. He allegedly has 6 kids!

Possibly.

Cameron Jerome was fined £50,000 for betting on football in 2013, perhaps that's why he only cost us £1.5m! 

Its against the rules for any footballer to bet on any football related event. Its an extreme rule, but a really simple one to understand so can't be any excuses for breaking it.

Maybe if he's found guilty we can use it as a reason to cancel his contract and thus remove the wages instantly. Admittedly this means we'd lose out on any potential transfer fee, but as nobody seems to be knocking our door down for him, the wage saving alone is justification enough IMHO.
