Turned out to be BS, just like the Morison-Tierney one turned out to be BS, and only the mentally challenged ever believed the Shackell-Ashton one.

Leon McKenzie denied it in his book and said that he and Damien Francis are good friends. 

They may well have had a punch up, but the rumours behind the reason are unlikely to be true if they remain friends.

Hucks also said on the Pink Un that the McKenzie Francis rumours were nonsense.

Looking at all these rumours I just wonder how logistically a player could have an affair with a teammate's wife? You can hardly slip away from work because you both work the same hours.  You can't meet up whilst your beloved's partner is away at work because you are also away at the same work.  It is very easy for a player to have an affair with the wife of a 9-5 worker and for a player's wife to have án affair. It's much harder with teammates because opportunity is limited

Basically, it is so unlikely as to be nonsense .

Much more believable would be two teammates having a bust up on the training pitch over a bad challenge. 

That would be much more believable in both the McKenzie/Francis and Morison/Tierney scenarios, as - if true - they were clearly able to kiss and make up. 

Unlikely to ever be able to simply laugh off an affair.

I've become a lot more relaxed about Johnson leaving, perhaps it is actually the right time for him to leave, at the top. 

Staying another season as a bit part player would be a little like Carl Froch having one more fight against some bum at York Hall, instead of quitting after the biggest fight of his career at Wembley. 

It is difficult to imagine him finding his best form again when only being given the occasional start, plus 15 or 20 minutes here or there, and easy to imagine him becoming frustrated with that situation and not being too great for dressing room morale (a little like Pilkington, who used to sit on the bench with his bottom lip hanging out).

Thing with Pilks is, we know that due to his injuries and inconsistency, we were unlikely to see more than flashes of brilliance at another club. There is every chance we will see BJ destroy the Championship and helping to power Derby to promotion, at a time when we might also be languishing. If he's being championed every week at a time we're struggling, and in need of some help, especially if its looking like he might power Derby past us as we swap divisions, the decision might look very short sighted.

Its been a long time since we sold somebody for a lot of money and had to watch them do well elsewhere - Ashton was probably the last time it happened. It could have happened with Snodgrass last season, but of course injury spared us this feeling.

*Oops - Forgot about Fer - did people feel like that with him? I dont think Martin counts as we ultimately released him after multiple chances here

Its been a long time since we sold somebody for a lot of money and had to watch them do well elsewhere - Ashton was probably the last time it happened.

Would we expect any of our regular players not to do well in the Championship though? Even our fringe players? Ayala, Vaughan, Butterfield, Surman have all done very well in that league, we haven't really missed them. Chris Martin is 20 goal a season striker. 

It just shows the difference in quality between the two leagues. 

I suppose things would change if we swapped places with Derby and had to watch Johnson on match of the day, but Surman is in this league now but I don't hear too much upset about that, and I don't recall people being too gutted when David Marshall had that great year in the Prem.

In reality the list of players that were rightly going to start ahead of BJ was long - I make it about 7 players - The current starting 5 (Tettey, Howson, Wes, Redmond, Dorrans), add in Mulumbu who will push tettey to the bench when fit,  and brady moving forward now olsson is fit,  probably at howsons expense and its hard to see BJ even making the bench come November.   When you in good cover from Gaz ONeil, Vadis, Elliott Bennett and now also Matt Jarvis (who only replaces BJ  as that 8th in line - I doubt he will force himself ahead of Brady often and as such a good solid more capable replacement)   

I find it impossible that we would turn down a £6m offer for a committed yet limited player at premier level (all of his premier performances only reinforced the feeling that prem football was just a touch beyond him) who found himself 8th in line to play - that we find ourselves with that level of midfield options we should be celebrating that a player so far from starting attracts such a fee.

I am happy he has gone and wish him well at Derby - as with Malky he will do well there and may get promoted;  but that is his level.

For me the only crime this transfer window is NOT improving our centre back starting pair - selling BJ for £6m and replacing him at 8th option with a cut price proven prem performer who will only play if olsson or brady are injured is perfect.

I'd almost fully agree with this, although I would have liked another good quality striker rather than the unproven gamble that Mbokani represents, but the missing CB when we clearly need one is almost unreal.
