The "Smashie & Nicie" board

Yes, that's what someone has called this board over on the pinkun board,  have to say made me laugh mate. So, if this is the"Smashie & Nicie" board what name would be appropriate for the long established pinkun board? 

Also, who on here here is "Smashie" and who is " Nicie" ? 

Oh, and one more question for Wiz,  what do you really think about AN ?

I literally never look at the Pink'un unless prompted by somebody saying that they are talking about this place (which they only seem to do with the Pink'un is very quiet, because they've got nothing better to do). 

Can somebody explain to me why there are like three members in particular feel the need to constantly talk about how the Pink'un is the biggest Norwich message board? Its clearly stating the complete obvious, and its actually sad that this is the case, because its about a third as busy as the main Leicester forum for example.

I believe that these three people are all formerly involved in a supporters club and two are members here. Is this a legacy of a time when they felt the need to argue about the Judias People Front being three members bigger than the People's Front of Judia, because I can remember quit a few disputes on the Pink'un back in the day amongst supporters clubs, all no idea whether those particular individuals were involved. 

And why does this forum get talked about so much over there, when there also Not606, Vital Norwich and Wrath of the Barclay.

Isn't it a bit childish? 

Nobody ever writes "look at how quiet Vital Norwich is this decade". Just asking, it does make me wonder. 

And whilst sad but very true, often there is more activity on Wrath of the Barclay than on any other site, today there are 160 posts on WOTB for example and that's probably more than the Pink'un. The members of WOTB don't seem to be obsessing about page views and talking about this forum.

As far as a name for them is concerned, I stick with what I've called it since I left: the nest of vipers.

From a distance it can look exotic and fascinating but get close, get involved and you will be bitten and often.  I've never even glanced at the Pink Un in the last two years and I'm much happier for that

The Pink Un forum is full of ignorant Neanderthals and I avoid it like the plague. Basically it's the 'Canary Call' of internet forums. Coupled with the fact that the message board is antiquated and difficult to navigate, it really is like something out of the ark IMO.

I've only been a member on here for a few days but this site is soo much better in every way, the only downside is the lack of members on here ATM. Is anybody doing anything to try and generate more interest ? Mods, would it be ok for me to post links to articles on here from my Twitter account?

I've done so in the past with links to not606 where I do MDT's from time to time and it does sometime result in new members signing up.

Problem I have is this forum has done exactly the same, particularly when it was first created.

You'll find there's members and friends on that forum who've been apart of it for 13 or 14 odd years. That's a long time and when friendships have developed in real life from that forum I guess some have a close affiliation to it. And you have to bare in mind that the stuff you're complaining about is exactly what this forum has done in the opposite direction. Not as much, but that's obvious because there's about 1/20th the amount of posters.

I enjoy looking at both forums. The PinkUn has some right rubbish on it, but that's to be expected when the volume is that much greater than this one.

Well now from yesterday I have a life ban from the PU, okay, some may say its well deserved, but it lasts until the year 2160 at 5.40pm. That's not just silly, its vindictive and personal imo

I'm not one for stifling debate so don't  think you should have been banned from a personal perspective but I completely understand why they've done it.

I tend to find the life ban lasts no much longer than 5 minutes I get life banned at least once a week never did me any harm

Of course you can share links to here, no problem.

Not really sure what could be done to generate interest really, should probably hold a contest to win something decent to get old users logging in to enter (and send an email out to invite them to enter).

Forums are just a dying medium really, the kids don't use them these days. I used to use quite a few thriving forums back in the day and most of those are very quiet now.

Cheers hogesar, and I kind of understand it too except the draconian length of my ban and why a few others on there escaped a similar fate to myself.

Still as I'm already an old bloke another 165 years is no problem...........that's a lot of score guesses from me to come on here, hell, I might even win it one year!
