Re John Ruddy, just said on the other forum that some people are happy to see him go on the basis that, as an experienced keeper, he won't be happy to be number two behind Rudd. Yet, in the next breath, they want us to sign an experienced keeper to be number two behind Rudd.

Selling Ruddy in this window would be premature unless he asks for a move or we get a great offer, let's first see if Rudd can keep hold of the shirt for the rest of the season.
But if Ruddy fails to win his shirt back then it would make sense to me to sell in the summer. Have to wonder whether he has the drive and determination to now do that or whether he feels like he's got nothing left to prove here.
If he simply can't win back his place then I'd sell and sign somebody like Robert Green, and to be honest whilst he will have less time left in the game, is there a great deal difference in quality? He's a free agent in the summer.
It would be very similar to Stoke selling Begovic to a big club as their number 2, and a home grown player (which I think Begovic is), promoting their talented younger keeper (Butland) and then signing a new number 2.
Not many keepers stick aroundaround as a number 2 when losing their place. If Rudd still holds the shirt at the end of the season he'll want salary parity and we'll have a keeper on what 30k a week playing 4 cup games a season?

Rudd's done well, but he's not the finished product by any means. Great shot stopper but needs to improve his decision making on crosses and through balls. Bennett got him out of jail on Saturday when he froze on his line instead of coming to collect a ball that should have been his and he was all over the place with high balls at Spurs. He has the makings of a very good keeper but there's a bit of a League of Gentleman hype growing around him at present. So far his mistakes haven't cost goals and long may that continue, but it doesn't mean he doesn't make them.

Perhaps this all stems from what we have discussed before and that is leadership. Ruddy has five years experience behind him and can handle himself (no pun intended).
Rudd as you say has made errors that luckily haven't cost us. He has stood up well to one on ones and made some good saves. His kicking is a bit erratic although he can make good distance when he gets it right.
And I only watch on the internet so obviously don't get the sound and atmosphere. But there appears to be little or no communication between the defence. And Rudd doesn't appear to be the most extrovert of people and probably still has a slight inferior "I'll be dropped if I make a mistake" attitude. I would have liked to have seen him bollock Seb when he missed that through ball. But I didn't notice Bennett showing any emotion either.
We do need somebody at the back, or even O'Neill, to take the conch and read the riot act now and again. We haven't got anyone to truly lead by example so it has to be verbal.

Townsend is okay until he shoots. Would rather have Lennon and cash.
I'm going with the theory that he knew about Benno moving on though. Until something happens. Can't really see the club selling Redmond now, not in our current position.

Redmond is talented kid, but he probably wont move outside big 6 and in which you could see him get playtime with his current form?
I dont believe he moves during the winter window as he isn't in his last year of contract yet.
Board would be mad to sell him now where we are only few points away from relegation.
