In the summer I'd like to see one top class talent in each area of the pitch. One quality defender, one quality centre midfielder, one quality striker. Assuming that we don't sign any of those in this window.

There is the goalkeeper thing but I'd honestly just take Robert Green if John Ruddy wants out, we can have him right now for nowt according to the media. Not a long term solution but still a quality keeper with something left in the tank.

I think Jarvis is a big improvement over Beno, hopefully Pinto will be better than what we have at right back [shouldn't be too hard], Naismith would be better than a lot of what we currently have up top. In the summer we signed Brady, Mulumbu, Dorrans and Mbokani, none broke the bank and they are certainly better than the players that left.

Think we're doing pretty well at the moment. I'm confident that we'll sign a good central defender too.

Agree. I know we're not half way through this window yet but I'm surprised that it hasn't already been addressed since we won at Wembley.

sadly I dont think thats something we can put in the contract;  from memory the rules were changed a few seasons ago to cover just this situation;  we should try and put off signing it until about 6pm friday...

Grabban had that spell last season when he was really effective and let's not forget he scored against 1p5wich in both league games.  Which makes up for a lot in my book. But it was only a spell then he seemed to lose his way and has only shown quality in flashes.

And he would never convert more than a small fraction of his chances, so his contribution depended on his speed running down the channels and his general mobility etc.  Which Prem defences are better at handling than the Championship.

So on balance I'm fine for us to let him go for that sort of fee.

I'd hate it through if he can play on Saturday because of the curse of the ex.  I hope it's subject to paperwork which will be delayed to prevent this.
