If I was in charge of our transfer dealings for this coming season, then I'd be aiming for something like this:
GK: Matthews as first choice, and then 2 others backing him up. Whether its McGovern, Jones, or 2 new players I don't really care. Would love to have Angus back but can't see it happening.
RB: Pinto 1st choice. I know some are suggesting that he might leave but I'd love him to stay. If we bring Reed back then we don't need to sign back-up, if Reed doesn't come back then we probably do, though Godfrey can probably do a job if need be.
LB: Lewis and Stiepermann are good enough options for me. Husband is more than welcome to leave.
CB: Zimmermann and Hanley. Unsure on whether we should try and cash in on Klose. I don't really mind whether we do or not as long as we bring in a replacement, unless of course Farke thinks Raggett can step up (though there's been no signs he can). Franke as back up.
DM: Trybull, Vrancic, Godfrey, McLean, Thompson and Stiepermann. Happy with those options, though wouldn't mind at all if Tettey re-signed. Even if he doesn't though I think we have enough options (though that is assuming Godfrey and McLean can step up and Thompson's injury hasn't ruined him). I do really like Reed but to be honest he's a bit of a jack of all trades, master of none, so considering the options we have already in centre mid I wouldn't be going all out to sign him. That said if we did re-sign him I wouldn't be unhappy.
AM: With Maddison and Wes off we have pretty much no options. Would love us to get Leitner back and use him there, as said above he seems the perfect fit. With the money we're gonna get for Maddison if we can't get Leitner back then this is one area we really have to spend some of that money in. Cantwell as back up maybe? Seems to have done very well out on loan albeit in the Dutch 2nd division. McLean and Stiepermann can play here as well I'm pretty sure. The ideal situation obviously is Maddison goes to a top 6 team who then loan him back to us, but there's no chance he'll be here next year.
W: I really like Hernandez and although he's a bit hit and miss I'd like us to keep Murphy. I think those two on each side could be real threats on each side next season. Assuming we have no plans for Wildschut then we'll need to sign 1, preferably 2 wingers as back up. Would really like us to go and sign that Jorge Grant who's had a great season at Notts County but he's only on loan from Forest who probably intend to use him next season.
ST: Massive area and one that we really need to get right this window. A fair bit of the Maddison money has to be spent here. Oliveira and Watkins need to go and simply we need to sign someone who will score goals. I think Srbeny could be decent but I wouldn't be that confident going into the season with him as our number 9. We do need 3 strikers going into next season, so another question is whether Farke thinks Carlton Morris is good enough. If he does then great he can be our 3rd choice, if not then we need to bring someone in.
So in other words:
Gunn and Reed go back
Wes leaves, probably Tettey as well
Sell Maddison, Oliveira, Husband, Watkins, Naismith, Martin, Jarvis (if we can) and potentially Klose, McGovern and Wildschut
Bring in a number 9, and another striker if Morris isn't up to it. Get Leitner back, or spend some of the Maddison money on an AM if we can't. 1 or 2 wingers, a back-up right back. Replace Klose if he goes, and I think we're fine in centre midfield.
