Is the punishment just one less substitute for each of the missing homegrown players, or is there a fine?

McLean isn't homegrown as he came through in Scotland. Same with McGovern (and Hoolahan came through in Ireland).

Has to be England or Wales.

Makes sense to just loan out McGovern to somewhere and get an English keeper to sit on the bench. Jed Steer perhaps (who would also count towards our 'club developed player' quota).

The Premier League homegrown player thing is why Chelsea, Man City etc pay over the odds for ridiculously average English players like Rodwell by the way.... and why Nathan Redmond will stay in the Premier League if Southampton get relegated despite having a rubbish season and seriously lacking end product.

And why Ruddy were linked with a £5m move to Arsenal and Chelsea to be their number 2 a few years back.

I'd have Korey Smith back here by the way if we lose Tettey! Don't know if we can afford him, but we could offer £1.5m of the Maddison money + Marley Watkins

happy with that, I imagine it was a case of him always wanting the two year deal, us offering him one, and then meeting in the middle and saying we'll give you two years but at a reduced wage to what you're on now, maybe something like a 20% pay cut, which is probably worth it when you get that guaranteed two year deal which sees him through to 34

Also if we let him go we'd have to replace him, and giving him a new deal is essentially a free transfer for us, I very much doubt we can find a better ball winning midfielder with premiership and championship experience on a free transfer that fits into our wage structure, good deal all round

The player we were linked to (Morsy) will have doubled in price when Wigan secured promotion, they aren't going to want to let any of their best players leave are they. So Tettey has leveraged his current importance for the extra year, can't blame him. Doubt he'll play much in the second year of that deal but we could do without another season of signing loads of defenders and centre mids.... this summer needs to be about the final third.

Really pleased with this signing, he proved many times how useful he is.

I have been up and down on Tettey from the start. He is great defensive mind and good at winning the ball back. My concerns with him have always been the lazy back passes and seeming to kill off a good attack with a pass back allowing the other team to reset and get back behind the ball.

That being said, I really liked his play this season. I can't quite figure out what was different. Maybe it was Farke's system? Anyway, the squad seemed to respond to him being on the pitch. The defensive record alone with him starting is a clear sign of that. He will be a key player for Norwich next season.
