I dont think theres much to it in terms of the tax avoidance stuff. Sure he can offset a little bit against other losses / profits but it'll be minimal compared to the 6 million or so he puts in every year.
To be fair, they can't be too critical of him because without him covering that 6m every year they would already be totally fucked!
Most of them money he puts in seems to go back to him in loan interest payments.
I think he just took a gamble on trying to own a Premier League side on the cheap... which he would have flipped for a profit, or benefitted from the shirt sponsorship + made a few quid selling stadium naming rights like Mark Ashley.
Backfired but he's content running the club at somewhere near breakeven. The debt that Ipswich owe him is record as an asset on his balance sheet, difference between interest payments and amount he has to loan to cover them is negligible and probably covered by what he gains plastering his name everywhere. May cost his business a low seven figure sum per year, but for that he gets to keep a £90m debt on his balance sheet as an 'asset', it only gets written off when you can't collect.... which of course he can, because he's subsidising the interest payments.
Ipswich fans are stupid if they think he's ever going to start bankrolling a promotion push though.
As for the interview though... embarrassing how many Ipswich fans have swallowed the canned answers to questions he invented, expected to hear the clang of a clapperboard and somebody at the back shout "cut".
To Marcus Evans the club is just the small poolside bar which doesn't break a profit.... in the middle of a huge resort complex which makes him a fortune. You'll keep the bar, because you think its add something to your business... but you aren't going to completely renovate it, because you'd just be throwing good money after bad and you'd be much better off building a few new duplexes.
