I’ve just watched the first two episodes of a series called The Boys. It’s about superheroes that are using their powers, but not necessarily in the right way, such as politically and to get an easy shag ! :) Enjoying it so far, could be one to take to work if you haven’t seen it Morty

Yeah The Boys is great. Looking forward to the 2nd series.

Seen 3 films at the cinema so far this year. All of them really good!

The Gentlemen - Guy Ritchie's new film, where he returns to his British gangster roots, and while it takes a little while to get going it turns out to be a superb film, better than your standard East end gangster flick. 7.5/10

1917 - Saw this in IMAX and it was fucking spectacular. An absolute masterpiece. 9/10

Jojo Rabbit - A world war II satire about a nazi boy, who has Hitler as an imaginary friend, who finds a jewish girl hiding in his loft. Went into this expecting a half-decent comedy, but it had so much more depth than that, with a lot of funny scenes and some that were really sad and thought-provoking. Really unusual but terrific film. 8/10

Stuff I have watched over last few months!

TV, just finished the Manadalorian, a Star Wars spin off TV show shown on Disney. Really, really enjoyed it, hoping they are going to develop further seasons, I think the whole franchise could go from strength to strength now it isn't shackled by the film saga. 9.5/10

Also just finished season 4 of The Expanse, originally shown on Amazon I think. Proper Sci fi geeky stuff about the future where Mars is colonised and also asteroid belts. Took some getting into and almost gave up after season 1, but ended up quite enjoying it. 7/10

Watched a film on a plane called "Yesterday" which was really quite good. A world event happens and a pub singer (in Lowestoft) finds himself the only person who has heard of / remembers the Beatles. He starts performing their songs and people love them! Scummer Ed Sheeran is in it, and his acting is absolutely awful but that doesn't detract from the overall effect, quite a sweet, funny film, and girl friendly. 7/10

I’m now watching Treadstone, a spin off from the Bourne films. I love the Bourne films so I’m always going to like this. Watched four episodes so far and enjoying it but if they make a number of series I think it will just become a bit same over time.
I haven’t heard of the Mandalorian, I’ll look for it once I’ve finished with Treadstone

Agree about Mandalorian. Absolutely brilliant series, and exactly the sort of Star Wars content Disney should be making. I think Jon Favreau who was in charge of the Mandalorian has now been made head of the whole of Star Wars, so fingers crossed we see more TV shows/films of this quality to come.

And yeah I really enjoyed Yesterday too. Really charming film.

Terminator-dark fate. After ten minutes I thought he we go again, terminator chasing the person that can save the human race, nothing new. It’s really after Arnie gets involved that I thought it picked up. Yes, it’s another typical terminator film but I enjoyed it in the end, and just like Rambo, it has the feeling that it’s finally come to an end, or should I say terminated :)

I think those of us who have been alive since the first terminator film have probably had just about of them now! It all just became a bit ridiculous and impossible to understand the timeline of future folk coming back to off other folk before they do stuff. They should have stopped at 3.

I didn't mind Terminator Genisys, because, you know, Emilia Clarke...

Just finished The Witcher. Not bad, kind of Game of Thrones / Lord of the Ringsy kinda thing. Maybe not as many boobs as Game of Thrones, but there are some. Definitely a lot of people getting stabbed in the head with big swords. Henry Cavell (Superman) is an immortal who roams the lands, killing monsters for money Definitely set up for a second season. 8/10

Just started watching His dark materials. Set in a parallel universe very similar to earth where every person has a daemon, a spirit animal that is always with them. Only just on episode 2, but seems okay so far. I think there was a film of it some years ago, called the Golden Compass? Not sure it did too well.

I’ve watched Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, more watchable weird stuff from Tarantino. A bit too long in my opinion but you just have to see the last 15 minutes :D

Rise of Skywalker- oh dear. The three main characters of Po, Rey and Finn have the personalities of an extinct ice planet haven’t they ? Finn spends half his time whooping and hollering like he’s just scored a touchdown, Po is a poor mans Han Solo and Rey represents female equality. The storyline, “ let’s just say Palpatine is actually still alive with no explanation “ is lazy in my opinion with too many parts nicked from previous episodes.
Star Wars has been ruined by Disney, and although the series seems to have come to an end I wouldn’t be surprised if another couple of spin offs turn up.
Problem is, I still enjoyed it ! :D

I am a massive, massive Star wars fan. I was there in 77, queuing up to watch the most amazing film I have ever seen. and then spent the last 33 years trying to recapture that feeling. I didn't mind the film, but in recent years it has felt like a bit of an obligation. Moaning they are a bit shit now, then watching the trailer and getting hooked, and counting down the days till it is released. They should have left it at 3 films.

I also watched 1917 the other day, better than I thought it would be. I think that with special effects the way they are now, films should show war films as they are/were and it pretty much did that. The actual storyline did come across as if it was squeezing in as much as it could but overall I thought it was good.

Just finished watching "The Gentlemen". A film by Guy Ritchie, starring Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy),Matthew McConaughey and Hugh Grant (fop haired bellend). Really actually enjoyable, even Hugh Grant is okay. It is a Guy Ritchie film, if you like his types of films you will like this, if you don't, you might still actually. Your typical gangster / drug dealer story with twists, very layer cake.

Good fun 8/10.

Sky have decided to give me Netflix for free (thank you very much). Not being up in the film world, any recommendations that are on there (not too violent etc. for Mrs OR's sake) would be much appreciated. :)

I'll have a think and come up with a list of good ones I have watched in the last 12 months!

Many thanks Morty. I know it's a bore but if you're not a film fan normally, you haven't a clue where to start! People don't always want heads being ripped of every 5 minutes!:D
