The 321 and the goal music are artificial and as much as I like singing OTBC and jumping up and down and shouting/applauding when we score - as soon as it starts, it stops me from carrying on the celebration. I looked around after the goals against Watford and Blackburn and there were plenty of people who stopped clapping the instant the music started after the goals, so its not just me. I have a deep seated aversion to anything that regiments people in some way - and I certainly don't expect it at football matches. Spontaneity is missing from so much of what we do these days, the feeling of someone else trying to channel the way I react to something special like when a goal goes in, is deeply offensive. Over the top? Not really. If you let someone dictate to you how you behave, then you are giving them control. There is enough control in everyday life, for reasons of health and safety and good citizenship, etc etc, so to have controls put on you when we score is a step too far.To be honest I couldn't care less whether we have goal music or not, when we score all that I am really aware of if is the massive explosion of excitement that I feel, I don't think music can enhance or detract from that experience.
And what if you don't like the choice of music? You could say that the goal music is unpopular with some people on musical grounds, because there will be people that don't like that particular piece or style of music. So even if you don't mind clapping in mindless unison, you could still not want to join in because you don't like the particular music.
Overall, there is more to be said against goal music than for it imo. It doesn't really prolong the celebration, it merely controls it - and there are people that actively don't like it. People pay money to watch NCFC so why should some of them have their celebration of goals spoiled by something they don't like?
