He's 26 now and just hasn't shown good enough form for us imo, now up for sale. Gunn is supposed to be one of the best young keepers in the country, that'll do me.

Angus Gunn has yet to play a competitive club game so would expect him to have to battle for the shirt with Rudd, may bring the best out of each other.
I actually rate Rudd and we haven't really tried him at this level, threw him in at the deep end in the Premier League and he now has another full season of football under his belt.
I'd be happy if we went with Rudd + Gunn this season, and sent McGovern packing. Get Remi out on loan, keep Jones as the one who gets battered in training.

I don't think there will be much of a battle.
My guess is they will be trying to get either Rudd or McGovern (or both) out the door.

I don't believe Gunn would have been allowed to come here on loan to be a bench warmer. Rudd is reported to be for sale, so I see it as Remi and/or Jones as No 2.

Rudd is a poor goalkeeper and we'll be in trouble if he's our number one. Heard good things about Angus but I guess the jury's out til we see him in action.

Gunn is a calculated risk - but we will need decent cover in case he has a Kane-esque season with us before going on to be his countrys No. 1 keeper for years..
Matthews has more potential but low level experience, Rudd more experience incl Prem. Neither great options but would prefer either ahead of McGovern. Sell the MM along with the one of the others that makes us most money. If I was to choose I would counter Gunns inexperience with Rudd, who had the misfortune of standing behind that defence; he may not suffer as much if we improve it this summer.

Happy with this. Bit of a risk but he's very highly rated and is barely going to cost us anything. Sounds as if Premier League clubs were interested so he's clearly good!
This video is worth watching tbf, obviously only the highlights of one game against a youth side however he pulls out some good saves here, including one penalty save.

By the end of the last campaign it was clear that the 'keeper spot had become a bit of a problem. Although Ruddy hadn't had his best season as a relative youngster in goalkeeper terms I, for one, was reluctant to write him off, but a bit of gloss had surely gone from off his reputation.
He nevertheless remained the best of the bunch, IMO.
Contractual timing and wages deemed it necessary to come to a parting of the ways and without financial gain for the club.
He was surely worth a decent fee under other circumstances and will likely have no problem finding another club. Let's hope that it doesn't turn out to be a Championship rival.
Because my thinking was that both Rudd and McGovern were dispensable and that Matthews was probably not quite ready the signing of Gunn comes as a good move for me.
Clearly a talent and highly rated this could turn out to be an inspired signing and one we might be regretful of losing at the end of the season's loan even though it is usually difficult to predict his parent club's actions.
Clearly the obvious NCFC connection favoured us this time as I believe more than a few other clubs were interested.
I'm 'appy.

I'd rather him on the bench than Michael McGovern, he was a joke of a signing on a 3 year contract.... looks like he belongs in League Two.
