And thank goodness you didn't, imagine having a shout out on Radio Norfolk on the one day that the site was down!Didn't get any shout outs in
I was actually looking out my home office window when he asked that, and I took the question literally. The grass is brown because of the drought we've had the last couple of years and also because Bermuda and St. Augustine grass both turn brown after the first hard freeze, and ours was about ten days ago (there's six feet of snow in Buffalo but normally I'd still be mowing the lawn this late in the year). We also have a really clear blue sky right now (no clouds, no dust, no haze). They were looking for the stereotyical Texas... longhorn cattle, horses, cowboys, and drilling rigs. I have all of this within a mile of me. I have friends who pull through drive-in restaurants on their horse. My daily commute takes me through the Stockyards which features Billy Bob's and a cattle drive down Exchange Ave. twice daily. I see cactus and wild animals ranging from deer to raccoons, feral hogs, buzzards, turkeys possums, armadillos, skunks, coyotes, bobcats, and mountain lions on a nearly daily basis (and not just as roadkill). I'll go to our two Boy Scout ranches an hour away and see/hear rattlesnakes galore and after a good rain find tarantulas with a leg span as wide as your open and extended hand. I've seen wild prairie fires, hail the size of baseballs, and more tornadoes than I can count... But for as much as I love to romanticize all that, when they asked the question my Asperger's kicked in and I took them literally. So what is outside your window ?![]()
