One of the best teams in League 1, so our chances of losing are very real. And a 4 and a half hour journey.  At least it'll give players like Murphy, Rudd, McGrandles etc a chance to prove themselves against good opposition

That would be the only consolation of a cup run for me (lets face it we wouldn't win it) that it would be the closest thing we actually have to proper reserve football.

A good draw for me.  Not glamorous I grant you, but a cup run has to start somewhere.  Chance to progress or bring them back to CR, but no disgrace if we lose - not a L2 club or lower, a chance for squad members to have some decent competitive game time against strong opposition.    And only one and a half hour's drive....

We surrendered at Shrewsbury. It will be interesting to see how strong a team we put out this time, and how well they acquit themselves. Or is the Championship all-important?

It appears the "magic" of the FA Cup is forever gone.

No matter who we drew years ago, there was always excitement and a great start to the long winter ahead and the New Year. All the Yellow and Green paraphernalia came out (I had a yellow & green Boater and yellow & green megaphone, with Keelan Supreme painted on it) and the was such a buzz and warmth stood on the terrace and hour before kick off and the atmosphere building.

Now its . . .  moan, moan, Preston.

The "big" teams utter disrespect for the cup competitions has slowly eroded it over many years now, for most of them its just a run out for their youth teams. I guess (us included) see the league as a bigger prize.

I, for one, like the cup as a break from the presure and grind of the league and a chance for fringe and younger players to show what they can do. Preston, however, will probably put out their first team as Shrewsbury did.

Once upon a time, I got very excited by the cup. Our team have driven that out of me. Losing 4-1 at home to that awful Villa side was the straw that broke the camel's back. We'd have won the cup that year if we'd have got through. I wanted that more than more or less anything I can remember wanting from the club.

Being fined was a stupid rule because it's subjective and you can't say what is and isn't someones strongest side.

Because getting promoted out of this league is more important to us, simply. And there is only money in a cup run, for the likes of us, if you draw a big team, and invariably lose.

I don't think there has ever been such a rule in the cups?

The 'magic' of the Cup has dimmed a lot for me, over recent years, but I certainly was in the same boat as Splutcho, regarding the Villa game. Two games against Bradford to come would have been a massive incentive

I have been fortunate enough to see my Team win at Wembley, but I wouldn't say no to another trip

I do like the way they are doing the draw on TV, with a bit of a build up/interviews etc , although I will never like the list of Clubs, and their numbers, at the side of the screen, as the draw is going on. Yes, I could see that Man Ure were still in the pot as the last few teams were being drawn yesterday, but I would rather wait for the host to call it out. Slightly sadistic? I don't know
