I think Game of Thrones is brilliant, you do need to sit down and concentrate on it though, then you will be able to appreciate the brilliant storylines, some of the amazing acting, especially Peter Dinklage who is absolutley out of this world in Game of Thrones! I think it does depend if you're into all tis medieval fantasy stuff. If you've played Skyrim and loved it, you'll probably enjoy Game of Thrones! Haha.

Yeah I have to reiterate the above, it is an incredible show. Definitely can look like soft porn sometimes, but it's got a ton of twists and turns. Screenwriting is unbelievable, visually it's stunning and acting is phenomenal throughout. I'm not really into medieval fantasy or games like skyrim and I still absolutely love this show. You'll need to give it 3-4 episodes to really appreciate just hoe well it flows and just how good the screenwriting is.

If you don't watch Game of Thrones, I really would give it a go. That's advice for anyone, nearly my entire family love it, and there is a huge amount of differing tastes among us.

I haven't watched it either, but it's only a matter of time. It took a while for people to chip away at me and make me watch Breaking Bad, and I'm pretty sure I'll give in soon. My girlfriend calls it 'tits and dragons'.

Am I the only person who has been watching Utopia on Channel 4? Holy crap it's good.

And anyone who doesn't know who Agent Dale Cooper is, I recommend watching the whole of Twin Peaks as a matter of urgency!

Getting so old now mixing up my decades :)  even still it was a show that didn't take off and was cut i believe :rolleyes:

It was revolutionary in many ways - one of those shows that was ahead of its time. Often included in 'greatest TV shows of all time' lists, and for people with warped and twisted imaginations (like mine!) it's a must-watch! The second season suffered from declining ratings and the storyline (and, indeed, the dynamic between Lynch and Frost) changed as a result, but there's still never been anything quite like it. Not to everyone's taste, admittedly, but I still rate it as my favourite TV series ever.

I just feel personally that the sign of a a great series is the longevity of it and the fact that the writers ran out of good ideas for the second series imo, doesn't place it up there as a great show. But as I said just my oppinion

But the flipside to that is that a show can 'jump the shark' if it outlives its welcome. Take Fawlty Towers for example; they only ever made about a dozen episodes, but it's rightly considered one of the best comedies ever as it was quality over quantity.

And Lynch didn't run out of good ideas with Twin Peaks, he was just at odds with the network over his ideas. He's widely regarded as one of the best directors of his generation, and he's never pandered to the box office or to 'what the public want'. His style isn't for everyone, though, that's for sure! :)

You said it yourself about the second series, declining ratings and storyline, if my memory serves me correct? It became quite a joke amoungst people at the time. Whilst i agree that in some circumstances a show can outstay it's welcome, I'm sure if you were to delve deeper there are far more great, great shows that ran longer than just the 2 seasons. Reguarding Faulty Towers, it truely was a comedy masterpiece and because of which is re-run over and over again, the same can't be said about Twin Peaks.

That's why I said 'my favourite' show ever, rather than 'the best'. It clearly doesn't have as much universal appeal as something like The Sopranos, Breaking Bad etc... but for people who like their television dark, weird and downright freakish, it's absolutely fantastic.

Did anyone watch Penny Dreadful?

Thought that was a fantastic series! Great acting, some really good writing, and if you can get over Billy Piper's Irish accent, it's pretty entertaining.

I've just started watching "Always Sunny In Philadelphia" and absolutely love it. Great comedy about some friends who own a bar. All 9 seasons are on Netflix and although it started on a very low budget it gained supportive backing from a lot of famous fans who loved it (and later stared in it) and it went from strength to strength. Obviously with it running through 9 seasons, it has to have a good following. I'd highly recommend checking it out.
