Grabban Keep or Sell?

Do you think any decent club was pushing as hard to get RVW as Bournemouth are pushing to get Grabban?

If Grabban does force a move then we may not have any choice but to get behind RVW and hope for the best, if he works hard like he did tonight then I'll happily support him (perhaps it was the shop window, but he looked keen to impress either way).

Can only ask that he tries his hardest when called upon. 

Will support players who want to wear the shirt, and good riddance to any who don't. 

If Grabban thinks he is too good to share a bench with the likes of Ruddy and Redmond then the bloke is obviously a moron and is perhaps not the biggest asset to our dressing room. 

If the rumour is true, Alex Neil hardly made an effort to play it down.

Neil basically confirms that Grabban was supposed to be in the team, and that he did walk out. Sounds as if we'll be holding out for a little bit more money though.

IF it is true then let him rot in the reserves, we don't need the money so screw him. Either way we certainly should not sell him to a rival, the Championship or abroad for Grabbs.

There was always that rumour that Ricky stormed out of the stadium when he found out he wasnt playing and had driven off. Though there doesnt seem to be much to that one as wasnt he pictured in the stands looking pretty chilled?  Ricky has always seemed committed to the club or at least wanted to repay the club. Perhaps Grabban just loses his head when he goes to Rotherham

Bournemouth apparently put in a 3rd bid earlier today of £5.2m with an extra million if they stay up.

I'd take that tbh. Probably more than he's worth. Hope we use the money to get Charlie Austin.

Id take that. Double our money for a player I've always thought was average championship standard at best. Never seen anything from him to suggest he's Premiership standard or any better than our other strikers. Let him go, as has been said, wont be missed. Feel a bit sorry for Alex Neil though, he has backed Grabban against the popular opinion that he's sh*te. He's put his faith in him and been let down badly. As he says in that interview if players have the wrong attitude then the club will be an unpleasant place to be. He's probably made himself 5th choice striker now on attitude alone. Difficult to see a way back for him. Club is in a difficult position now as Bournemouth will be aware of this and gives them some leverage in negotiations. Looks like he's trying to force a move and this is very disappointing and unbelievably unprofessional from him. Its normal to not want to reward such toddlerish behaviour, but ultimately we want the best price or him and we dont want anything festering within our ranks that could undo out team spirit. The club is bigger than and doesnt need Lewis Grabban. Good riddance I say. Dont need no bad eggs

No point keeping an unhappy player who doesnt want to be at the club. Maybe his performances have been sh*te because he is unhappy here. Hasnt looked interested most times I've seen him of late. Would explain a lot. If we decide to keep him at least we know that the squad coped with the Bassong disruption very well and whatever unhappiness Becchio might have had. That didnt undo anything which hopefully reveals the mental strength and unity of our other players

Just seen from Bournemouth fans that apparently our valuation of Grabban is £8m

These quotes from Neil:

Sounds like we're happy for him to go but only at the right price

RvW has handled his fall from 'grace' in a professional manner while Grabban comes out of the situation looking like a fractious moron. Two situations don't have to absolutely identical for parallels to be drawn.

He's got a rather high opinion of himself given that he's scored two competitive goals here and performed at a level in Ligue 1 which meant that St Etienne didn't exercise their option to buy. The Sporting deal also collapsed as a result of his excessive wage demands.

I'm not sure we can deduce anything about Ricky's attitude from a statement put out by his agent. Lets face it, agents are out to maximise their income, and it appears will say and do pretty much anything to achieve this. I'm not saying that he doesn't have a high opinion of himself, but I certainly wouldn't jump to that conclusion based on something his agent had said.

On the one hand we don't want to reward a player for spitting his dummy out of the pram, but on the other he doesn't seem to be good enough for the Premier League so if we at least got our money back we'd benefit all round. We'd get the money, offload a misfiring striker and he'd be free to screw up Bournemouth's survival campaign.

Thought the reaction interview with Alex Neil showed exactly how good he has been at dealing with the media, professional, spoke well of his players, made it clear that a good attitude was imperative to getting a start and wasn't taking any crap from the reporter in regards to the Grabban situation.

I hear that they've offered a deal close to 6mil but that we're holding out for closer to 8-9mil, but after this I'd be tempted to call it an even 7mil with addons and get rid.

I think you are both right really. RVW did get petulant under Hughton and I think that affected the team a bit, and he didn't fancy the Championship when he could have redeemed himself and made his wikipedia stats look a lot better. I didn't want him waltzing back into a Premier League side over the players who got us back here. 

But Bassong and Wes have been given second chances with new managers, after attitude issues or unprofessionalism, and have repaid the faith. If it is true that Lewis Grabban has absconded from a game and left us with one striker in the squad, then that makes my prior argument about RVW waltzing back into the team redundant, because Grabban has just given a full license for us to sack him off and give RVW his place in the squad. 

If we are living in the 'now', rather than the past, then one of those players seems to be keen to impress Alex Neil and Norwich fans, and the other is making it known that he doesn't want to wear the shirt, so choosing which one to support here is a complete no-brainer. 

Also, be fair to RVW, didn't Adams strip him of his number 9 shirt and hand him number twenty something? Did we make him feel wanted?

Personally I have never bought the RvW didnt fancy the championship accusation. Yes his agent put out some delusion of grandeur statements, but you look at what came out from him himself - he tweeted about working hard to repay the faith the club had put in him, working hard to get the club back to where it belongs. Seemed very upset when he was given the number 20 and stripped of the number 9 shirt.

I think his move to St Etienne was very much the club saying they didnt want him and that they wanted someone else to pay his wages and hopefully take him on permenantly. I think it was made very clear to him he wasnt wanted, so in that situation what else could he do?

RvW has never really come across as someone who doesnt want to be here. Probably why the fans still want him to do well instead of turning on him completely
