Chris Sutton was a British record transfer at the time (most paid by a British club).I just saw someone making an interesting comparison to when we sold Sutton to balance the books.

The record British transfer is currently £89.7m.
So comparing that with a £7m transfer fee today is silly.... £60m and we'll talk.
Pritchard is our next legend and talisman though. He's the one player we've got where towards the end of the season you just thought... "What the hell is he doing in this league?".
Perfect successor to Wes... and lets hope we see the Pritchamonial in 2026.
Pritchard is also the reason perception of Alex Neil's legacy here won't improve with time. We could argue that he signed Pritchard, but nobody will forget that he barely played him and he left us in 8th with possibly the leagues best player sitting on the bench for half a season.
