It's a very intelligent point of view. Thing is they say a week is a long time in football. It seems 24 hours is now too, with, Dr Tony Xia's RonCon group buying Villa they hve gone from a joke to minted. I can see him legally challenging FFP. Plus Mike Ashley's been known to spend. Of the 3 relegated clubs you're at an immediate dis-advantage now, you can't afford to mess up like the examples given this time or sadly it could be a long while before you're back
I think its going to take a lot more than instant wealth to fix Villa.... they seem to have an entire squad of wasters, going to take time to sort out that shambles irrespective of whether they now have a big pot of money.
Also, Tony Fernandes has done a good job of showing that simply throwing money at a club isn't a guarantee of success, you also need to surround yourself with people who understand the business, with your best interests at heart.
For all we know this new Villa owner may be one of those 5 managers a season types, then get bored and forget that they own a football club like the Venky's.
Would be interesting to know whether Lerner was shrewd enough to put relegation wage drop clauses in Villa contracts. The new owner is apparently prepared to inject £50m into Villa, which on the face of it appears to be a massive war chest.
But when the club makes signings like Michah Richards on a 4 year deal at £50k a week.... that investment may not go as far as people think.
No amount of investment is going to make Scott Sinclair, Gabby Agbonlahor and Charles N'Zogbia give a sh*t about their football careers, so I doubt I'd put money on them going up this season to be honest.
Newcastle will be favourites though, actually pretty well run by Mike Ashley in terms of finances and they are by far the strongest of the teams relegated in terms of quality of players, I think they will walk it.
