It looks like Akpom according to this morning's reports. I'd be happy with that to be honest: very quick and with a great first touch so would fit our style well.

If he's coming in as back up or to provide something we dont have (ie pace) then ok, but would have preferred someone a little more proven/established than a rook

Wenger seems to have a lot of faith in him, and whilst it seems a bit hard on Loza and Morris, it seems like a good move, especially if it means denying him to our rivals (all of whom are apparently interested). His touch, power and pace make him a good option for covering Grabban, who I suspect we won't see again this season.

I understand that Grabban had laser surgery which is largely non invasive. Assuming no complications he could well be back very soon.

I don't quite get this if it is Akpom. He may have potential but is unproven. Very harsh on Loza and it shows that developing youth at Carrow Road is seen as not up to it ( when did you see someone from the youth really being given a chance since league 1?). An established striker such as Rhodes I get but I see this lad as no different to using Loza or Morris. . Really harsh on them if this is the case and sends a very demotivating message.

You can't give young players a chance just because they have been in your academy.

It doesn't matter if it's Akpom on loan or Rhodes at the cost of several million - what it'll come down to is that AN hasn't seen enough from the lads already at the club to suggest they can do what he requires.

Perhaps Akpom is simply a better player than either one of Loza or Morris, with 9 games for Arsenal under his belt we do have to consider that a possibility. No room for sentiment, we've got a league to win.

Sentiment aside, this kid turned down Liverpool and Dortmund. When Loza and Morris have those kind of clubs interested, they can consider themselves slighted. Until then, watch and learn I'm afraid. I actually think it's good for them to have a peer they can learn a bit from. Unproven maybe, but the  kid has got all the attributes. 6'0, strong, quick as lightning, and a natural finisher.

Yes, it does. You would hope that, having been here on Saturday, he is leaning towards us, but I guess we'll know soon enough.

I feel that way too, Surgeryman, but it may be that Akpom has the playing style that AN is looking for to replace Grabban, while Loza and Morris do not (neither do Jerome and Hooper, for that matter)..

We can't risk going on just two strikers, and Neil seems not to favour Hooper for what ever reason. With all due respects to Loza and Morris, they are very inexperienced, and Becchio seems to have faded away somewhere. If Jerome were injured, that would effectively diminish our chances greatly.

Now would be an excellent time to sign someone, with the two week break and thus time to fit him into the squad. I like the Arsenal lad, and Arsene clearly values him highly. In fact if the player comes to us, it would be a real feather in our cap! So far, however, despite his promise, the youngster has not found the net in a number of games on loan. There is way he could step up and become our main striker in a very short time, although his colleague at Wolves seems to be very impressive.

What concerns me there is that thats exactly what Glenn Roeder said about OJ Komora!  Wasnt it 'a beautiful mover' or something like that?!

In fairness, Koroma was an unknown from Africa signed on the word of Harry Redknapp. Akpom is much more of a known quantity and certainly has much more of a verifiable track record.
