Neil's appointment has now been made official and I liked his comment on that:

"I'm absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to manage a club of the stature of Norwich," Neil told the club's official website. "It's an exciting challenge at a huge club and one that I'm looking forward to. I've watched a lot of Premier League and Championship football over the years and I've always been really impressed with Carrow Road and the Norwich fans and the way they get the place going when they get behind the team. It's a forward-thinking club with a fantastic infrastructure and big ambition, which matches my own ambitions."

It seems that he approves of the structural arrangements. McNally added this:

"We're delighted that Alex has agreed to become Norwich City's new manager and we hope he's here for a long time. It was important for us to have somebody who had the drive, ambition and commitment to work as hard as it takes to take the club forward. Lots of names were under consideration, but for us, as the Board of Norwich City Football Club, he was the unanimous choice and the first choice."

Well he's here now but Neil Adams often gave the impression that he wasn't in control of transfers, saying Fer was going nowhere the day before he left I recall.

It's never easy to know for certain, but I recall Adams saying that he didn't want Fer to leave, but that the offer from QPR was just too good. He made good use of the 10m anyway.

I've dealt with this structure issue/nonsense on another thread but to respond to another of Gaffer's points, Darren Eadie is a good friend of Neil Lennon and he is adamant that the Club had no contact with Lennon. Eadie is very critical of the Club for not even speaking to Lemmon.

Makes it unlikely that Lennon turned us down because of the structure or anything else. He never got the chance!

Before we all think it is a done deal, wasn't Malky at 1:12 at some point in the summer. Which is Neil's current odds.

Obviously loads of money going but that does not necessarily mean inside knowledge.

Not sure what to make of this one, would either be a roaring success or a complete disaster - not expecting any middle ground. Rather than wondering what Gary Holt is to make of it, possibly he put in a good testimonial. He would surely have been consulted

Well after a lot of careful thought and consideration, and obviously it is a close call - of the two extremes I suggested I am going to opt for "Roaring Success" as the outcome.

But to be serious, what a difference the man has made! Now it's all eyes on his recruitment skills this summer. This is going to be the final bit that we don't yet know...we know he can manage existing players and has real tactical awareness, how is he when he has (for the first time ever) money to spend?

Anyone got many doubts?

Yes the victory last Monday will only have seen AN's stock rise still further.

I think other clubs will want to see how he does in the Premiership first, a bit like Paul Lambert. But any level of success and I think we will be watching the odds on every managerial vacancy very carefully.

I have no doubts, he just inspires confidence. I think we have a very special talent on our hands. I just hope he falls in love with the Fine City and seeks to achieve at least some of his ambition at Carrow Road.

I believe like Lambert, Neal is also on a 1 year rolling contract, should we not offer him a more secure 4 year one?

Definitely. His current deal is up at the end of next season, and if we have a very good season there will undoubtedly be clubs looking to take him off our hands. I think he's very much earned a new 3 year deal.
