Statement from Carrow Road.

The made a statement last week, in effect, in the signing of Phelan. Adams knows now and the Board know, that Adams has a very experienced coach and assistant manage waiting in the wings, and contactable by McN.

If things continue as they are, I would expect a statement in a couple of weeks from now.

Well this puts paid to the topic "What is happening to the Forum"?

Is this one of Baldric's cunning plans?

I want to hear something from the club today. I want to see McNally in front of a press conference. The club owes us this, now is not the time to be hiding behind the doors of Carrow road.

I would second the sentiment. We are all hurting and some communication may help to soothe that.

But I am really not sure what they can say. Neil Adams has already done his weekly "It's not good enough" press conference.

Assuming Adams has not actually run out of road as Ricardo would say then, and I ask the question to all, what would you like him to say to a press conference?

It doesn't matter what is said, as long as someone shows their face, and appears to have a plan.

A bit of leadership, if you will. God knows we could do with some.

The plan will be the same as last year - there is no plan.  They will stick with it and hope it gets better.  They have no choice imo - to sack Adams would be to admit they were wrong and I don't think they will do that lightly.   They could point to Phelan as a move in the right direction, but getting a new coach in was forced on them by whatever Robson did wrong, so that wasn't planned.    So unless they are going to sack Adams, there is nothing to say.

Spot on. Maybe they don't want to let the public see Macca's black eye ;)

Looks like Adams will be here for the Wigan game then. I think if there was going to be a statement it would've happened by now. Unless the board have held talks with him today, and will make an announcement tomorrow.

Like others, I just want to see some kind of evidence that they have a plan. If they come out and say that they are going to back Adams then fair enough, at least they've shown that they have set some sort of idea of what they're doing.

IMO, they said that with the appointment of Mike Phelan. We have yet to see what difference that can make.

I don't personally feel the need for a statement but more objectively, what on earth could the club  gain from saying anything at the moment?

The febrile mood is such that anything said would be used against the club.  You've only to look at the sneering attitudes on Twitter and Facebook to see the seething hordes queuing up to shout down, disparage, denounce as lies and ridicule anything the club says.  There is no forum for calm, intelligent debate at the moment.

The Board will keep out of sight and let the next few matches take their course.  This storm  blow itself out if results improve. If, results do not improve then the Board will act.

A statement now achieves nothing except stir up the haters even more.

There is absolutely no benefit to the club in anyone saying anything at present.

Not only will there not be a statement, there in my view should not be a statement as anything will only make the mood worse.

It's last year all over again, nothing will happen until it is too late and we will end up in mid table at best and probably replace Adams with a few games to go.

McNally said that they made a mistake leaving it as long as they did last year and unless a change is made before January then the same thing has happened again. We will probably win on Saturday then lose or draw the next few and then when the heat is on again win just like Hughton did.

Whats the definition of madness " doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result" time to wake up Norwich

I keep checking google to see something, at the very least a statement from the club and on this I am in full agreement with Morty. If ever there was a time for a well worded statement of reassurance then this is it, but PR is not a strength these days and we will be left second guessing........and my guess is that NA has a couple of games now to show the start of a turnaround, which I can live with, because there is still time after that to scramble a play-off place.

I agree with BoyerBoy on this one. The attacks on McNally demonstrate so strongly that rational thinking has gone out the window in the baying mob.

I think the truth is that Adams has a very limited number of games now to show an improvement. Obviously I don't know how many but my guess is that it's weeks.

But the club can't come out and say that, it would put immense pressure on him.  When does a club ever say about a manager "he's got 3 games to improve things" ?  It never happens and for good reason.

The alternative is to wheel out the dreaded "vote of confidence" which is pretty worthless really.

Or, or course, to sack him.  Easy for us to say but the club has to decide who to appoint as a replacement.  Phelan ?  Too soon to tell.

So my guess is they give it a few weeks to see if NA can improve things with Phelan on board, or for Phelan to show them he'd be a safe pair of hands if things don't improve enough to keep Adams.

And I just can't see what the club could usefully say in a statement, given they've obviously decided not to get rid of Adams yet.

Well if they are keeping him, at least say so. If they are not, I wouldn't expect to hear from them until it actually happens. But with an increasing amount of fans changing their minds, it would be sensible to reiterate what they thought during the close season. That they think he is the man to guide the club. No problem with that. They own the club and they hire and fire who they like.

And despite the nice image of the club from the owners through to the fans, the owners have never really given much thought to the paying customers. And it isn't deliberate. They are just thoughtless, which surprises me as they are successful business people.

My personal view, the timing of Robson's departure, plus the arrival of Phelan, probably works against the instant removal of Adams.

That said, Adams is probably no more than one bad result away from being history.

However, as pointed out above, there is nothing to be gained by the club making a statement at this moment. They'd be damned if the said anything (unless it's too say he's sacked) and dammed if they don't.

I agree with all of that, however, would there be anything so wrong in at least acknowledging that, as fans, our concerns have been heard, and are considered legitimate?

But that is what goes with owning and running a football club. You may own it intrinsically but you still have ten of thousands of owners in a spiritual sense.

If you don't like pressure, and that is all it is despite Saturday's bit of mayhem, then you aren't really being a custodian or director of the club.

If you are damned then so be it. You will wake up tomorrow.

I don't actually understand the position the board is creating for itself.  Whatever happens, Adams has no way of recouping credibility.  If we improve it  will be thought that Phelan is responsible for the improvement, if we continue to do badly it will be seen as still Adams' fault.     The board have successfully created a no win situation for the manager,  because unless there is a near miraculous change in fortunes, goals start going in, defenders start defending, goalkeepers start looking like goalkeepers, managers starting to use the squad better....the list goes on and on.....he will never be seen as a good manager.

Promotion is everything.  Deliver that after the last few weeks and he will be forgiven.  But it's not looking likely.
