That second team on it's own could do some damage. It's certainly stronger than quite a few teams first choice XI in this league.

Exactly what you need in a long, tough, Championship Season. Seeing that makes me wonder why we don't go all out for League Cup glory though.

Play our first team if coming up against similar opposition to us, reserve team if playing a top half premiership club (as they'd more than likely be playing their youngsters) and our "youth team" if playing lower league. If we make it to the 1/4 finals onwards then first team all the way.

Promotion and a league cup sound good  Neil Adams would very quickly become a hero then!!

I expect we'll see McGrandles at CAM when we do see him. I also wouldn't want to see a flat 4-4-2 unless the opposition were weak at full back

We now have a reasonable strength in depth, with more than one player for any position in the team.  In addition we have players who can play in more than one position, especially among the new signings - Hooiveld and Miguel who can both play left back if needed, and the Scot and the Belgian can both play anywhere in the midfield.

I don't know what will happen this season with injuries, where luck plays a large part, but it seems to me that NA has very quietly assembled a squad that has greater depth in all positions, and flexibility, to meet the vagaries of cruel fate. It may not be enough to guarantee us a top six finish but it does increase the chance of it.

No guarantees, but we're now third favourites behind two teams who've had a less demanding start to the season. Good run of games following Cardiff.

I can't quite believe the look of our squad in terms of quality and strength in depth, but then I thought the same last season too.......   

On paper it looks strong - as it did last season - but we soon found we struggled with injuries and consistency in midfield last season, losing Howson Fer and Tettey for long spells and in attack Hooper and RVW were off injured too.  

However, this season, the look of the squad is that the quality there is proven quality for the Championship, right through the squad, not just "supposed" quality.  We all thought that RVW, Hooper and Fer were bound to be a great success at premiership level, but it didn't really happen enough.  Hooper of course is proven at championship level.  The only question for me is how well McGrandles and Vadis might cope with the Championship.  McGrandles is young and one for the future, but Vadis looks to be a real potential star and if he hits the ground running, could be our most exciting player this season.  With his ability and the running of our front men and depth of quality behind that, we look very strong.

My impression has been that so far Wes has been playing central in front of Tettey and Johnson......

Johnson has done well enough but not brilliant.

Tettey has been superb.
