Indeed, this isn't just about one player, it is about the team as a whole. Once Maddison goes, which he will, we have lost our two top goal scorers, the next player being Oliviera, who could well go too.

Considering we were so goal shy last season, that is pretty concerning. And if you consider that we have a 20m shortfall in funds this season, that really doesn't leave a lot of cash to buy the goals we need, and as far as I know, we don't have a wonder kid waiting in the wings, who is full of goals!

Farke and Webber best have some absolute gems up their sleeves...

Yup. If they are not seen to be spending money then they will definitely need to dig up some real gems. Otherwise patience will run thin quick without good results.

Would be surprising if we were able to find someone as talented as Murphy to come in and replace. There's a reason a Prem club is interested in him, after all. Like Morty says, it's a bit odd the % of fans who are non-plussed by this news - we need some really good summer buys up front because removing Maddison and Murphy leaves the attack looking bottom three-esque.

12 of those as a sub, several just 5 or 6 minutes. One goal, one assist. A fanbase who have very little good to say about him. Let's just say I wouldn't call it a success.

Would you say you are disappointed for him, or revelling in the fact you consider he has been unsuccessful?

Nick Mashiter is reporting this as £11m which is good money for him. Getting Leitner back would be great but I wonder how many times we can send some of our young midfielders out on loan before they start to feel their future may be elsewhere. I would hate to lose someone like Cantwell because he feels he can’t progress here. Let’s hope some of this cash results in another striker and wide player, unless my Jarvis prediction is about to come true !

But you can't give a lad a game just because he's had a few years in the youth.

Everyone in the first team squad has worked hard to get where they are whether they came through at Norwich or elsewhere.

In theory the only reason he doesn't progress here is because he's not good enough.

£11m for Murphy is as good price, would be disappointed to see him go as he does have bags of potential, but we've been saying he has got potential for 5 years now,

he maybe the type to shine in the premiership where it's less in your face and physical like the championship, and may do especially in a Warnock side where I imagine his instructions will be as simple as to stick to the flank and run as fast as he can, not that there's anything wrong with that and I wish we tried to simplify things somewhat, think he gets a bit lost when he has decisions to make and is much more effective when he just does his thing without thinking,

he's much like Theo Walcott is in that he's a better player when he gets to do things instinctively rather than having the time to think about what to do next

I wish him and his brother all the success, hopefully they can kick on and become top players, and who knows maybe we have a clause in both contracts that if they play at international level we get a nice little add on

I'm disappointed for us as a club, as I am when it concerns any player who, and this is obviously only my opinion, has not been as good as he could be. His brother was the same, Naismith is another, RvW, latterly Jerome, Oliveira, the list over the years is a long one. I'm sure there are many players who have disappointed you. As far as revelling in the fact, why on earth would I do that? It would be utterly pointless when you consider that no doubt Josh, assuming this move takes place, will be playing in the PL for a lot more money, in all the major stadia in the country.

I agree with you, but if we were to think of Godfrey or Cantwell , who are both highly rated, but not yet ready and have been out on loan a number of times in Godfreys case, then the temptation to leave for regular first team football must be quite tempting. I guess it’s up to the coaching staff etc to convince them that they have a future here.

The former Coventry midfielder, signed for £2.5m in 2016, is presently recovering from a knee ligament injury suffered at Sheffield Wednesday on the last day of the season.
