We finish 7 points behind fifth placed Ipsquit? But 6 points ahead of seventh place Brentford. A bit isolated there in sixth place aren't we?

Funny because I'd have taken 6th a week and a half ago, when Adams was our manager and a sacking looked unlikely. Now I think we've got a real chance of getting ourselves back into contention for automatic promotion over the next 6 or 7 games. We've got games against Ipswich, Brentford and Watford in the next six weeks, and all teams have got several games with promotion rivals still to come.

We've got nothing to be afraid of, we are potentially only a few weeks away from 3rd or 4th, and depending on how other results go we could then be within touching distance of automatic. Not sure if automatic is achievable, really depends on other teams. Last season the 2nd place team had 93 points. I doubt anybody expects us to win 50 points in 20 games.

The season before the 2nd place team had just 79 points. We could easily reach 80 points?

I dont think the results that are predicted are particularly likely tbh, drawing 1-1 at Millwall?

IMO we can do better than 78 points if the players buy into Alex Neil and get a consistent run going, but it's hard to know how that will go. I still feel confident about the play-offs, but top 2 is a long shot at this time, although the average 2nd place finish of 82 points is not beyond us. We need others to fall away a bit. That's also possible, given that most of those above us are exceeding expectations. All  except Derby won yesterday, but only Watford were convincing in doing so. Could say the same about us though.

second place team with 95 points?    simply cant see that happening.   think it will continue to be close and suspect any team getting to 95 (which I think may not happen at all as teams take points off each other) will go up as champions.

How does this work then? It is technically possible for us to finish with 103 points, if we win all twenty of our remaining fixtures? 

If we were to win 13, draw 4 and lose 3 of our remaining twenty games then that would leave us on 86 points?

That's true, CB, but the most important games are those against top 6 teams. We've already had Bournemouth, so we need to win the others to have a chance of a top 2 finish. The next is Brentford where a win would move us to 6th and hopefully close the gap on others. On a more positive note, we have only one point less than Lambert's promotion winning team had at this stage, so there is hope.
