Time to rest Ruddy?

Goalkeepers are confidence creatures moreso than any other position in the field, JR's is obviously shot right now. He needs a settled back 4 in front of him.

He is one player who needs players in front of him or he is vulnerable. But having said that, that is two in a row where he has made errors and Rudd must now be given his chance. Perhaps the new manager will give it to him.

The wheels are well and truly coming off now, Ruddy has been a good servant to the club and has turned down moves to bigger clubs to stay here and play - yes he has been paid well for it - but I think he could have gone in the summer and been paid a lot more. This does not bode well at all!

I'd transfer him after that tweet. He is a professional footballer who is very well payed and should not react like that . Is that the right way to react to criticism of a poor display? The best way to stop the booing or comments is by turning in decent performances, which he has not been doing.

At the game today, the crowd were backing the team the majority of the game, but it makes no difference at the moment. It wasnt untill after the final whistle that the real booing/chants started. By the way I didnt boo or chant but can understand it.

Ruddy needs to watch some of this seasons errors that he has made and accept the fact that he is having a bad season and at fault for a few goals against

Rubbish. If we're allowed to vent frustration, so is he.
To a point I agree but professionals should react professionally to criticism and do something about it. And he was rubbish today and has been poor this season. Take it on the chin John and do something about it to shut people up.

A couple of bad performances? That's cleared up for me why he has been poor this season. He obviously has his eyes shut!

But ironically cheering every catch and save is not constructive criticism is it, instead it is just having a go at him and to be fir he deserves better than that. The fans do have a right to complain but there are ways and means and this is just not good for anyone.

I agree with that. It does not help during the game as with booing, but again for me he should not react in his position. However he has. The question is what does he do about it?

One thing that I realised earlier today, is that for the last couple of years, Dave Watson has been our goalkeeping coach. However, at the start of this season Watson left for Southampton. Ruddy has said in the past what a good coach he is, so you have to wonder whether his departure is the reason that he's gone down hill so far this season.

I also wouldn't read too much into the tweet. He's obviously going to be very frustrated after that result, especially seeing as one of the goals was his fault, and he nearly let in another one. I certainly wouldn't sell him after it.

Uh oh.

I thought this comment was about the club. Didnt see todays game so didnt realise Ruddy had been targetted. If Ruddy has been targetted, kinda feel he has every right to feel aggrieved. Ruddy has been great for us. He's not having the best of seasons, but lets stick by him and not forget what he's done. To do otherwise would be to be an ingrate

He is obviously hurting and that´s no bad thing if he uses it to come back stronger.

Agree that the sarcastic cheering is counter productive. He knows he is having a bad one without the fans underlining it for him.

However he also needs to look at how the fans reacted as a whole. The team were not going well today, yet rather than fall into silence I thought the support reacted well and made a very good effort at trying to lift the team.

My mate who sits in the N&P said to me earlier that apparently at one point when everyone was ironically cheering every time Ruddy caught the ball, that Ruddy turned round and had a massive go at a group of fans in the N&P.

I'm afraid your'e wrong. Players do not act like this. They take it on the chin from supporters. As long as nobody has attacked him personally or rudely, then he sucks it up and gets on with it. It isn't even accurate what he has said. A couple of bad performances? And has he stayed at the club for our benefit? No. Its what suits him.

Unfortunately, Ruddy's been at the club for a while and therefore has perhaps taken it more personally than necessary.

The problem is the fans who 'jeered' him were only doing so under the circumstances of this season. He was unfortunately the one who made mistakes today but when you're playing as poorly as that in front of your home fans and not meeting anywhere near the expectations you need to be - fans will vent frustration. Ruddy got some of it today and rightly so - he was terrible.

His tweets are a bit uncalled for - If a similar club had the exact same situation as us the fans would be far more hostile than some sarcasm from the bloody N&P

I was pretty annoyed when I saw the tweet. The best thing he can do is come off Twitter if he is that upset about it, because engaging in this sort of stuff is going to end badly. No matter how unforgiving fans can be, as a player you have to take it with good grace and not rise to the bait. It was unpleasant hearing the sarcastic cheering when he made a save, but as a player you have to rise above it.

Whenever I read or hear a player moaning, I think of how many people out there who would kill for the privilege of playing professional football. So he gets zero sympathy from me.

I don't like the tone of the tweet or his use of the term "LOYAL" - Seems to me that he is saying look, I could have gone to bigger and better clubs but I deigned to grace you with my presence in a lower league. The fact is, he has not been the same player since THAT injury, and has been on a steady decline since, and this has gone largely uncommented on because there were so many others who were not up to the mark either. He has been poor this season and has dined out on his past performances to a large extent.

Trouble is, who to replace him? Having seen Rudd's hopeless performance at Shrewsbury it would be too dicey to give him a go at such a crucial time.

I really rated Bunn, anyone know how near he is to fitness?

Totally agree. Comments during the game not good for anyone but venting frustration afterwards is acceptable so long as it is not nasty.

As you may have worked out I am in healthcare and have a code of conduct, which sets rules for how I have to behave 24/7. Imagine if people like me reacted to comments from the public like Ruddy has. We have to listen to what's being said and try and resolve things professionally. Slagging fans off in his position is NOT professional. He may want to but he should not.

Now I don't know what was being said. If it was vile, as in healthcare it should not be tolerated. You tell the ref, stewards...etc and deal with the culprits. What John should have done was tweeted something like "disappointed in my game today and can understand the fans reaction after the game but booing during the game Is not constructive . I want to reassure fans the the team will be putting 100% into improving performances to makes sure Norwich climb the table but need your support during the game". Or simply say nothing and look at why that reaction occurred and put it right. A tweet like that says I have been doing you lot a favour don't you realise? That's not constructive and is just asking for comment.
