Becchio's assist for Howson's goal against West Brom was pretty good. 

I honestly do believe that him and Hooper up top would have given some results had they played together that season. Not that it would have kept us up.

although, of course, we are seeing exactly the same process with Lafferty. 

In fairness the calls for Becchio came when he really couldn't do any worse than those on the pitch at the time. 

Haven't got the same excuse for Lafferty though, I think its frankly ridiculous that anybody would call for him to get minutes. 

If he were any good then Burnley would want him back. That his only option seems to be Leeds United says it all really, he was begging for a return to Rangers at the end of last season so at least he knows he's shite.

We're apparently interested in signing Patrick Bamford in a perminant deal from Chelsea. Don't really know how to feel about that. If it's the choice of him or not bringing a striker in at all this month then I'd rather we bought him in, but at the same time I'd sooner we looked elsewhere to be honest.

Yes, I feel the same.  Anyone know what the price might be?  He's become a bit of an unknown quantity this season.  I remember him destroying us at CR last season; he was AWOL in the playoffs, but was carrying an injury I think.

I like the Bamford idea personally, but I'd be amazed if he came on a permanent deal. Still, we have a loan place up for grabs... not Grabbs of course.

Bamford doesn't over excite me to be honest, although clearly a prospect considering his age. 

But then it isn't always the exciting signings which work out, we thought we'd arrived at the big time when we signed RVW and people thought that Brady was expensive at £7m. 

Turns out that Brady was a steal and RVW was out of his depth.

I have heard wild speculation of up to 10 million!

For me, I'm just not sure. Yeah good in the Championship, couldn't get a game at Palace on loan, with the feeling he has a bit of attitude.

That said Bournemouth have just paid similar money for someone "good in the Championship" but totally unproven at this level.

Sounds like maybe Haller thinks he is too good for us, and trying to stir up interest somewhere else.

Questioning the players motivation? that a biting comment and confirms he wont be coming here.    Clearly hoping for a bigger club.  good luck to him & next.

Re Bamford given his age he probably is worth £2m more than Grabban so who knows - can only wait and see.

I wonder though if a loan with a buy price agreed pre loan could well be the way forward here. I guess its up to Alex Neil, and how much he really rates Bamford.

Bamford is either going to end up a top bloody striker and regular England international or a Championship player. 

Like that other eternal prospect Connor Wickham.

Its a gamble, but then again any striker we sign will be. If we were to go and sign Jordan Rhodes then that could end terribly too.

I would see Rhodes as more of a gamble, if he was really good enough to make the step up he would have done it before now.

His best years are definitely ahead of him though. He may not have quite fit into how Pardew wanted to play.

Either way, he's proven in the Championship to be probably too good for that league.

Well why did Pardew take him on loan then?

I know it sounds overly cautious, but if we were to pay the kind of money I am seeing bandied about, I would want to know a bit more about what went on at Palace.
