Although it's a big decision and I certainly understand the need to think about it, any player who takes a long time thinking about whether to commit to the cause worries me.
You could also argue that if they are considering their family and other such variables, it's not such a bad thing that even after all these considerations they felt coming here was a good move. In fact i think a well measured thoughtful player is best to make his decisions before joining than during the season. If you can answer your own questions in regards to 'what if' and are comfortable with them, it gives you emotionally a strong support if things start to go wayward, or a bigger club shows interest etc. You need to be at peace with yourself in this life.
Besides that, I think we're all terrible at considering footballers primarily as commodities rather than people with their own responsibilities outside of the game. Notice on twitter how many footballers become attached to their pets for example, i know this sounds crazy but having to pick between leaving them behind, or having them put in a pen for several weeks/months before they can be allowed to live with you again all adds to the thought process i'm sure.
