Another report supporting previous accounts of developments. This needs google translator - but the message is still clear (ish!)

Vadis Odjidja is still thinking about the Norwich proposal. Trained with Club Brugge yesterday, but didn't travel to England yet. #ncfc

Although it's a big decision and I certainly understand the need to think about it, any player who takes a long time thinking about whether to commit to the cause worries me.

Fer took a long time if I remember correctly? Could this be a loan move?

It's only a worry because we know about it - who knows how long players like Jerome or Olsson (2 at random) took to deciede to move to Norwich; could have been weeks of deliberating. Clubs on the continent are always much more open about transfers so the press find out at a much earlier stage and can report of every drawn out step of a transfer.

There were some reports that Norwich first bid for Cameron Jerome at the beginning of August - that is how long a transfer can take to work out. Obviously the closing window will hurry old Vadis along a little, but there is no delay here, or anyone deliberating a particulary long time.

I think that's about right. Brugge don't play again until Sunday, so he could come today for talks, watch the match tonight and then decide tomorrow, when he's 'slept on it'. It's not like it's the last day of the transfer window.

I'd also add there is probably a bit of a logistics issue here as well. When in the Premier League, Norwich would probably wheel out the private jet to get him over for talks on the same day - very much doubt they will go to such lengths now in the Championship and he's probably going to have to get on the KLM flight from Amsterdam.

Great points. Really didn't think about that. Really not used to hearing about Norwich transfers until they are almost signed, sealed and delivered. I still find it difficult to imagine him leaving to join us in the Championship. However if he has a bit of foresight and thinks the squad has potential, he can be a premier League player in less than 12 months, so who knows. Certainly hope it's true anyway.

Any Dutch speakers here? I think the gist of it is that Vadis is 'bored' of the Belgian league, and the commentator is '100% sure' that he won't be a Brugge player on September 2. I think this is one that could quite easily be hijacked by Premier League interest...

Interestingly, Voetbal are normally fairly accurate with their info, and that article says he is in England now, in talks with us... and I also interpret it as saying he's bored of Belgium league and looking to move.

could easily be him waiting for the deadline day to approach to wait and see if anyone else comes in for him,

cant say you can blame him really, as much as we all want every talented player to come here, from his point of view you wouldn't want to sign for a championship club with a week of the window remaining to find out a couple of days later a move to a premiership club could of happened

You could also argue that if they are considering their family and other such variables, it's not such a bad thing that even after all these considerations they felt coming here was a good move.  In fact i think a well measured thoughtful player is best to make his decisions before joining than during the season.  If you can answer your own questions in regards to 'what if' and are comfortable with them, it gives you emotionally a strong support if things start to go wayward, or a bigger club shows interest etc.  You need to be at peace with yourself in this life.

Besides that, I think we're all terrible at considering footballers primarily as commodities rather than people with their own responsibilities outside of the game.  Notice on twitter how many footballers become attached to their pets for example, i know this sounds crazy but having to pick between leaving them behind, or having them put in a pen for several weeks/months before they can be allowed to live with you again all adds to the thought process i'm sure.

Doesn't matter what you're earning, we're all human.

I know Odjidja appointed an English agent to get him a move to the Premier League a couple of seasons back - I guess this was around the time of the move to Everton that never happened.

It seems Premier Leauge interest has dried up a bit over the last 6 months or so and the situation with Club Brugge seems unsustainable, with them desperate to move on an unhappy player who is worth a good amount of money for them.

I guess along with negotiating with Norwich, his agent is probably calling most of the Premier League clubs one last time to see whether they are interested or not. This isn't going to be a player who will run to Norwich, but that isn't a bad thing - I'd rather Norwich have to convince good players in signing than having average players knocking down the door to sign as they will never get anything better.

That might also depend on whether City are willing to wait until the end of the window, perhaps missing other chances in the process.

Transfermarkt.co.uk values him at £4.4m, which is a reasonable price tag for a lower to mid premier league midfielder. Suggests that the club is building a squad not only for promotion, but to hit the ground running should we get promotion.

Found this quote on ITV:

"I am currently still a player of Club Brugge.

My contract is still ongoing here and I still do my best for the club.

Whether this was my last game in black and blue, I don't want to say anything about it."
