That's very good news, and I'll tell you why..... 

... it means he believes this situation can be salvaged. It means that he thinks we are going to have a sufficient footballing budget to rebuild. It means that all the wasters who will be leaving the club in the summer are earning a sufficient amount that their wages will free up enough money to build something.

He wouldn't have left a team with a good chance of promotion this year to one that he doesn't believe could have a good chance of promotion next year. 

Now lets get a head coach in as soon as possible.

Have to say, if true then Webber's made a pretty damning judgement on some long-term staff members pretty quickly. Are they really that bad? Or is it a case of Webber apportioning them the blame for the, as he said, '3 or 4' poor transfer windows?

Could be rash, but suspect its a case of listening to others opinions that he has the ear of, his own dealings (if any), perhaps a steer from those he reports too together with  a quick review of the last few windows and more crucially who was on this summers radar  

More likely he just read a fans forum or two ;-)

Thing is, we shop in the bargain basement, comparitively, when we buy players. Its rare that we buy a finished article, so theres always going to be risk. We have signed players that haven't worked out, and we have signed players that have. Absolutely no different to any other club.

Yes, people can be judged on results, of course they can, but you also have to temper that with any financial constrictions that they have to work under. And you'll always find an example of a club that has unearthed a bargain, when we didn't.

Probably just wants to bring in some people who has already worked with? 

I actually see a big positive in Ricky Martin leaving. He's very popular with the board (Delia at least), so if Webber has managed to turf him out then it means they are putting trust in him and it seems to dispel the myth that Jez Moxey had his hands tied as a yes man to the board. Seems like he just didn't have any ideas, or didn't have any balls? 

We say that we need radical change, well that requires bold moves. Terminating Ricky Martin's employment looks like a pretty bold move to me. This is what change looks like.

None of this inventing a new job malarkey to keep people whose face just fits at the club, like we did with Neil Adams and his "loan manager" role, and like we tried to do for Jeremy Goss to soften the blow when we decided we didn't want him in our commercial department.

I agree, but I also agree that a club our size can't afford what I agree have generally been 3 or 4 poor transfer windows. And i'd agree with Webber that that's probably been our biggest downfall over the last 2 years.

I think Webber probably feels with the budget we've had we've not made the most of it. Certainly our big-money signings haven't really worked and the likelihood of being able to recoup more than half the money is slim. Particularly, the likes of RvW, Naismith and Klose are record-breaking transfer fee's for the club but the chances of us getting even 50% of that back is slim. That's not to say I don't understand those signings because I do and there's a logic behind why we made them.

But it's clear Webber has a very different logic behind him - and probably more suited to a club our size. If we're going to spend 7-8 million I don't think it's going to be on anyone the wrong side of 28 years old - because the chances of us being able to 1) make a profit if a success or 2) recoup as much as possible if it doesn't work out, will be much higher if they're younger.

In the case of the "recruitment chiefs", surely they are performing some duties which are now part of Webber's job role? So looks like possibly a clear case of redundancy as a result of structural change.

Much more damning on Ricky Martin though, because not only has Webber decided he wants somebody else as "Technical Director" but has also decided to stick with Richard Money as the Academy Manager instead of giving Martin his old job back, unless that offer was on the table but Martin wasn't interested.

I'm liking the look of Mr webber.  I await with interest what he does with the playing squad.  Perhaps we really will be shot of the 'dead wood'.
