He may just be an average Championship keeper, or even just a very good League One keeper (which is probably the same thing?), but that still puts him above McGovern from what I've seen of him and none of us have seen Angus Gunn play in a competitive senior game because he has never played in one. 

The difference between Rudd staying and having one more shot here and leaving is probably the 3 year contract we handed to McGovern, that's the annoying bit. I do hope that if the plan is to go with Angus Gunn this year then bringing in an experienced number 2 and shipping McGovern out on loan is also part of the plan. 

If Angus Gunn proves to not be ready (like Harry Kane when he was here) then going with McGovern will cost us points. I'd probably chose Mark Bunn over McGovern and that's saying something.

Jed Steer on a permanent would be an interesting one though wouldn't it? Signed for Huddersfield on loan by Webber    

Using the Rudd fee to bring Steer back might make this all feel a little bit better, Steer was the better rated of the two here I believe?

I tell you what.... we're bloody good at churning out these half decent goalkeepers aren't we... Jed Steer, Declan Rudd, Joe Lewis, Andy Marshall, Robert Green, a few others who floated around in the pro game for a while (Arran Lee-Barratt, Danny Gay).

Am not sure about this, saw someone say on twitter say he's not even the brightest prospect in the academy, let alone the country as it says in the article.

Trouble is, unless they are rooneyesque exceptional then they just don't get the chances in the first team.

Haha thats sound advice for all of us! Nah but the rumour seems strong, so maybe there is something in it. To be honest, unless he's exceptional, then I would have thought his chances of getting into a first team, would be much greater here. And we're not daft, if he was that good we would have him tied down to a pro contract already!

I think I have only seen him play once, and he looked okay, but I wouldn't say head and shoulders above other players on the pitch. But I'm pretty consistently wrong about a lot of our youth prospects

Talking about former youth players that we've lost, anybody remember Dario Dumic? 

He is a team mate in the Bosnian national team with our new midfielder, playing in Eredivisie and linked with a move to Derby!

Clubs are always losing youngsters to other clubs, sometimes they disappear off the face of the earth and sometimes they make it elsewhere. These days they get agents at 15 or 16.... look at Zeki Fryers and Ravel Morrison, bet both regret their choices now.

I can remember when Man Utd stole a 15 year old kid from us. His name was Kareem Mooniaruck and they had to pay us a lot of compensation, they got around the 90 minute rule by flying him in a private jet until he was old enough to move to Manchester without his parents (16). 

Obviously they rated him. Ended up playing for Braintree, Thurrock, and Tiptree United. 

Then you've got players that we released who went on to have great careers, Dion Dublin is perhaps the best example. Think we released Bobby Zamora as a 15 year old for being too small too!

Interesting aside, the Shrewsbury manager says he has been talking to our loans manager, Neil Adams (no relation lol).

I thought he had vanished off the face of the earth, a while ago I looked at the staff list on the official website, and there was absolutely no mention of him!
