To be fair, Butler isn't saying anything extreme, in fact he's only really saying how the majority of fans feel - sad to see one of our best players leave.

As a spokesman for the local media, declaring a "fire sale" is irresponsible, ill informed crap.

All this  stuff about  Howson, he wanted out. Was never consistent. If he is such a super player, why didn't a lower premier, Northern club snap him up for the small amount paid?

That's really interesting. I don't see Howson as that type of player or person to be honest. It's clear that he wanted out but it reflects badly on him whether he leaves the club or not if he's forced to train by himself. 

Thing is though ultimately is that Howson and Dorrans are gone, 2 players that clearly didn't want to he here. Webber said there he's going to bring in at least one centre back, a left back and a replacement for Howson. Only thing I'm going to think about now is who those are rather than the players they're replacing.

May explain why Howson didn't play very well for the last couple of months of last season, if he was that desperate to leave. 

It does sound unprofessional but it is only one side of the story and who knows what reasons he has for wanting to go back up north, e.g. could be marriage strains, or a sick relative in Leeds etc. 

He's given us 5 good years, good luck to him.

I don't know, is he? I don't know him personally, do you?

I have no reason to believe that Webber would be so stupid as to make something like this up.

I don't think anything less of Jonny for it, but I think perhaps Webber was just putting the record straight after certain local journos implied that the club had acted badly in this.

It would be extremely stupid if he said something that wasn't true, he'd look a bit daft if Jonny put out a totally different side of the story.

I mean the fact that he's the main man in the kit release would suggest that Farke and Webber see him as our number 9. Surely it would take a big offer to tempt us, bigger than Howson?

Whilst I said in another thread I won't be worried until the end of the window, this would worry me.

Edit: Michael Bailey has tweeted this isn't true. So satisfied enough it isn't.

Will be telling if he pulls out of the friendly at Lowestoft citing an injury lol!

For me, if we did sell him, that would definitely constitute a step too far.

If Howson downed tools and didn't train, it will be so he didn't get an injury and fail a medical. 

Not going to think any less of him after his 5 and a half years of service. He wanted out, our valuation was met, nobody has been wronged.

I think Oliveira, Pritchard, Wes, Pinto and maybe Jacob Murphy or Jerome would all constitute too far for me. Part of the reason I can't see Oliveira being sold. Hopefully he plays tomorrow and puts all these rumours to rest.
