Seen Into the Spiderverse and Widows at the cinema in the last few weeks. Into the Spiderverse was fantastic. The animation is unreal, the story is fantastic and every aspect of it just works. Easily a 9 out of 10. Widows also very good.

Also watched Bird Box, a new Netflix film where essentially you're not allowed to open your eyes or you'll die. It was good, not great. Only other film I've watched recently is called Looper, where Bruce Willis goes back in time to kill a future gangster as a child so he can't cause havoc in the future. Really good tbf. 8/10.

Recently watched :-

Peppermint starring Jennifer Garner. Vigilante kinda thing, family killed by drug dealers and revenge exacted. Surprisingly okay actually, 7.5/10.

Mile 22 starring Mark Wahlberg. Standard Marky Mark action stuff. Special forces are trying to get an informant out of some foreign country or other. Good action stuff, a few plot twists and pretty well written. 8/10.

I have been watching a TV show called "Californication", starring David Duchovny (of X files fame) it's an older show that finished about ten years ago I thing, 7 seasons. Nearly finished it and have absolutely loved it, it is about a writer called Hank Moody, who is an absolute dawg, and gets himself into all sorts of scrapes, usually involving his penis/booze/drugs. Definitely worth a watch if it passed you by, as it did me.

Funnily enough I watched Peppermint over the weekend, yeah, it’s watchable and ok. Enjoyed Mile 22 too. I’ve only seen a few clips of Californication, he’s a naughty boy isn’t he ?
I also watched Venom and really enjoyed it. I think some of the Marvel characters have a really good dark side to them. Some good humour in it too, worth watching

Not a film as such, but "Abducted in plain sight". A documentary about child abuse. Both emotionally hard going, and exasperating at the stupidity, at the same time.

Very, very worth a watch. Tis on Netflix.

I've genuinely never said "What the f*ck" so many times in an hour and a half (insert Ipswich Town joke here) than I did while watching this :D me and my missus watched this planning to go to bed afterwards, and instead stayed up until about 2am just trying to make sense of what we'd just watched!

Absolutely astonishing. The whole alien-abduction side-story, the monumental stupidity of the girl's parents, and 1000 other things. Not even gonna get started on the "I gave him relief" conversation.

And obviously it is easy to forget but in the middle of it all is a story about one of the most disgusting, abhorrent human beings I've ever seen.

As for films I've seen recently:

Cold Pursuit - Essentially just Taken, but in the snow. Standard Liam Neeson. 6/10

The Mule - Clint Eastwood becomes a drugs mule for the cartel. Very good. 8/10

Mortal Engines - Cities are now mobilised on wheels, and the biggest cities, like London, hunt the smallest. Loved the concept, film was ok. 6.5/10

Overlord - A group of US soldiers in WWII stumble across a Nazi hospital where there's some quite frankly f*cked up things going on. 7/10

Upgrade - A guy gets a computer chip in his neck that gives him incredible martial arts abilities.Great film, with some great action scenes. 7.5/10

The Cloverfield Paradox - A group of scientists in space accidentally make the Earth disappear. Some good moments, generally crap. 4/10

Source Code - Groundhog day but a man keeps waking up on a train has to find the bomb on it before it explodes and his day resets. 7.5/10

Looper - Hard to explain but put simplistically it's about a man who uses time travel to kill people for the mob. Really enjoyed it. 8/10

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse: Absolutely fantastic. Easily one of, if the best film of 2018. 9/10.

Going to see Captain Marvel when it's released this week as well.

Captain Marvel - 7.5/10.

Another really good Marvel film. The humour was great and worked really well, and just in general it was a really nice origin story. Sets up Endgame perfectly as well.

Didn't have work today so saw it at midnight last night. Couldn't agree more. Absolute masterpiece. 3 hours absolutely flew by, and I actually wish it had been even longer tbh :D

Whilst I thought this was simply incredible, I think it perhaps suffered a little bit from not only being the 2nd part to Infinity War, but essentially had to wrap up every MCU lose-end, and even 3 hours isn't long enough to do all that. I would've liked to have seen the opening 15 minutes where the Avengers travel to the garden and kill Thanos dragged out for longer. But I can absolutely understand why they didn't. I also didn't feel like Black Widow's death quite had the same impact Gamora's did in a very similar scene, but again I think that was because they had so much to cram, so not the film's fault.

One other element I didn't like, while it was great fan service, is Captain America using Thor's hammer. I understand why people loved it but I have to say I wasn't mad about the idea of it.

These are relatively minor things though from what in general was an amazing, amazing film. The scene where all the snapped heroes returned was probably my favourite ever MCU scene, and the way they revisited old films with the time travel element was fantastic. Like Infinity War, I can't praise this film enough and am gonna have to see it a few times at least.

I have to admit I was sure it would be the hulk that dies! He was always going to be the only person able to wield the gauntlet and handle its power. I can't really criticise much about it, like you say there was a lot to wrap up, the Captain America bit was lovely at the end. The Hulk / Banner hybrid freaked me out a bit, but it was well done. I am going to have to watch this again to fully digest it!

Lol I keep coming back and editing this as I remember more stuff I have to say! I think the characterisation was clever, ones I previously didn't care for I liked, and vice versa. Stark has been a dick in the last few films, and he was redeemed, Thor has been my favourite for a few films, and they just made him human / a bit ridiculous!

Oh and fat Thor, where the hell did that come from? :D

Black Klansman, you all need to watch this. Parts of it make you smile, a black dude on the phone to the kkk saying he hates ( insert every derogatory word you can think of),but it gets more serious the longer it goes on. If you’re the emotional type like me then some tissues may come in handy.

Of the new films I've seen in the last couple of months or so:

Glass - Started promisingly, turned out to be shite. 3/10
Us - A pretty good horror film, though like many of them a lot of the best parts were revealed in the trailer. Some very creepy moments though. 7/10
Hellboy - A remake of the 2004 film, and inferior in almost every way, although it did have the odd good moment. 4/10
Detective Pikachu - Not a big Pokemon fan at all but this was actually really entertaining. 7/10
Godzilla: King of the Monsters - Saw this in IMAX 3D and it looked absolutely spectacular. The plot though is essentially some scientists are either chasing or being chased by enormous monsters for just over 2 hours. Still, really good film. 7.5/10

Also seen Avengers: Endgame 4 times, and it somehow manages to get better each time. 56/10

Yeah the last hour or so is just some of the biggest nonsense I've ever seen. A shame because I think at the beginning there are some good ideas, and I like the two previous films, but yeah all in all this was just plain bad.
