Honestly such a disheartening way to lose. Don't know whether to be angry at the team or what because we played so well in general in that second half. Defensively disciplined and should've won it with the chances we had, Leitner's being the stand-out. Obviously no-one expected him to match the number of goals Maddison got last season but he simply has to be converting chances like that. At the very least he had Hernandez to his left just knock it to him and he has an open goal. Overall Leitner wasn't at his best. The rest though all superb. Tettey and Trybull absolute warriors, Hernandez too good for Sheffield United's backline, Rhodes looking dangerous, Pukki I like more with each game, Jamal looked like he hadn't been away, Klose in particular at the back was solid, Krul looked reliable. There were so many good performances in there that I just can't get my head around how we've lost.
Just so frustrating to lose a game like that, and it gets you wondering whether there's actually a really big underlying mentality problem at the club. But I don't get it because last season we were often seeing out 1 goal leads or draws away from home, yet twice already this season we've been on for a point only to concede in the 90th minute, we just got lucky against Birmingham that they were so poor they conceded one as well. I don't know whether it was nerves or fatigue, but the last 10 minutes we lost all composure. Lewis, Trybull and Tettey all started making wrong decisions on the ball, Stiepermann, who had just come on, gave the ball away in a dreadful position not too long before the goal and was lucky not to be punished. For the goal though, Srbeny takes an absolutely shocking touch halfway inside his own half, gifts the ball to them and 10 seconds later it's in our goal. All Srbeny has to do there is not take a woeful touch and we draw the game, yet he couldn't do it. So annoying after such a good 2nd half performance where we could and should have won the game.
Nice that we have a home game in the week to potentially help get over it, not gonna be easy against Preston though. We do have a difficult opening run of fixtures which is typical, and the longer we go without a league win the more likely we are to cave when under pressure like today.
