Feels like we've just extended to try and squeeze half a million out of Preston or somebody else. Good business sense, a shame he doesn't get another crack, came into the side in the Prem at a difficult time and did make a promising start before his form tailed off. 

Fair play if is desperate for regular football though, would be easy enough for him to make a very good living as a professional backup keeper at big clubs like Mark Bunn.

Yeah I would have liked to have seen more of him too, we have actually backed ourselves into a bit of an odd situation with our keepers.

Can't claim to have seen much of Remi Matthews however from what I've heard it sounds like he has the potential to be better than Rudd. If so I'd quite like to have him as back-up to Gunn and offload Rudd and McGovern. I think Rudd could do a job for a team like Preston, however I don't think he's good enough to ever be first choice here.

Pleased with the signing of Vrancic, even though I've never seen him play or even heard of him before a few days ago Sounds like a Dorrans replacement though and at £650k I have no complaints. Hopefully he's one of a few gems we are going to snatch from Germany in the next couple of months. 

Bielik sounds promising too. Will be interested to see what's going to happen with Klose this window. I'm assuming he'll be off as he's one of the highest earners, however maybe Farke, who will know of him from his time in the Bundesliga, has plans for him. If he does go then Martin will be our only centre back so even once Bielik is in we'll still need 2 more centre backs. Add into that a new left back and a replacement for Whittaker then potentially Pinto will be the only member of our opening day back 5 who was at the club last season (surely Martin won't continue to be first choice, surely?! )

Have to say whilst I do have faith in Webber and the rest of the new backroom staff, I would not be pleased with this, particularly as it sounds like the interest is from Boro and Sunderland, two of our main rivals for promotion this season.

Surely Jerome isn't on that much. We did sign him when we were in the Championship after all.

Jerome proved his worth when Oliviera was injured, he's perfectly adequate as back up. I would hope he'd be replaced with something better, if he was to go.

And you just know he'd go to Boro or Sunderland and score 15+ goals.

I'd be very disappointed if Jerome left, even if we are going to go and sign Assombalonga or somebody (that would be nice).... Jerome has proven his quality off of the bench, he can change a game just through pure persistence. 

Easy for us to say without knowing how much he is earning of course. That's why its always difficult to say "don't sell him", or "why have we given him a year", etc. None of us have any idea and for all we know Jerome could be on £40k a week and Whittaker may have been on £5k a week last season, in reality we haven't got a clue.

But in purely footballing terms, I'd be disappointed to see Jerome leave. There were plenty of players who were over the hill / didn't have their heart in it / weren't earning their pay cheques last season. Jerome wasn't one of them.

In fact I'd be a bit angry. He's a 15 to 20 goal a season striker at this level and probably one of the top 10 strikers in this league. We'd probably be aiding the promotion of a rival team, its literally worth paying him to not play for a promotion rival... look at Derby and Chris Martin last season. They gave a 15 to 20 goal a season striker to a fellow Championship side, who then snuck into the top 6.

To be fair, The EDP are quoting a Daily Mirror article, so I wouldn't be too worried.

If any of the 'high earners' actually earn their money, it's him. So even if he is on a fair bit I'd prefer he stays. There are plenty of others who are likely on similar amounts we should move on before we get to him (Naismith, Dorrans, Klose, even Tettey).

But Webber has pretty much said that every player has his price hasn't he? Every player is available, so I'll believe it. 

This is one massive overhaul... we'll get our 15 new players. It will either be the best thing to ever happen to us, or we'll finish 24th next season.

I'm wary. 

People keep saying about how great Angus Gunn definitely is, despite 99.5% of them never having seen him play a competitive fixture. He's apparently great because Guardiola rates him, he shares a surname with a Norwich legend, and has an U21 cap (which Declan Rudd also has). 

But we had Harry Kane once and it was too early even for him, he's now genuinely world class.... and can remember when Patrick Bamford was definitely going to become a Chelsea legend. Going back further, we signed Jimmy Smith on loan and were told he was the next Frank Lampard. Doubt he's on any more than a grand a week now. 

And people got excited about Omar Koroma, signed by Harry Redknapp for £1m and sent straight out on loan to us. Since played 5 years of non-league football and still hasn't reached double figures in his career goals (surprised Redknapp hasn't been investigated for that one, if he wants to sign me for Birmingham for £1m I'll give him 50% of my 10% signing on fee, haha).

I think he was a Roeder signing, one of a number of really bad ones at the time

I'd say he's worth a couple of million of anyone's money frankly. Decent player, and would have only looked even better with a less leaky defence behind him.

Again, lets hope Webber knows what he is doing with all this.
