He does seem to have peaked as a prem player though.
However this is pie in the sky, we have been solidly lowering our wage bill and unless he will accept a pay cut from the over generous hammers it is surely a complete non starter.

In a strange way Snodgrass is at risk of becoming to West Ham what Matt Jarvis is to us.... an overpaid ageing winger on a long contract who is earning far more than anybody else would offer him.
Obviously he'd still be a classy player for this league but I don't think we should look backwards (not like we can afford him anyway, but regardless).
Its not really in the same ballpark as Everton resigning Rooney is it, and I'm just about old enough to remember when Robert Fleck returned to destroy his legacy.
The Snodgrass we sold was at the peak of his abilities, now he's almost 30 and has had a serious injury in the interim. Would be another reckless gamble to hand him a 3 year deal on serious wonga.
One year loan with West Ham covering two thirds of his wages, that's a different proposition but still an unrealistic one as I'm sure there are Premier League sides who would be interested enough to match or beat those terms.

I think Snodgrass has struggled for form because his Celtic dream didn't become a reality. In the last January window he could have signed pre-contract terms to join Celtic for free this summer and he was prepared to take a pay cut to make it happen, but Brendan Rodgers was reportedly not interested. He was never interested in West Ham or London in the first place, it was just the Premier League side which happened to be there to take him when Celtic was off the table.
Feel a bit sorry for him really because he'd be a huge signing for Celtic and would score goals for fun in the SPL. Perhaps the MLS would be an option for him, could become a superstar over there?

don't know if there's any truth to this and highly doubt we'd accept it, but if we sell Cameron Jerome to a league rival for £3m I'll be absolutely fuming, even if we got all of the £3m back to spend on a striker who the hell are you going to get thats proven at this level?

Bit odd that Celtic haven't been reported to be in the 'race' for his signature, because all the former hype around him seemed to be because he was named in a 33 man squad for some pre-season friendlies by Brendan Rodgers a few years ago. Not sure if there are many teams who could put together a 33 man squad without having to throw in a load of kids, not sure its really indicative of prodigal talent considering half a dozen of the other players from that same squad are already playing in the Championship.
Can't grumble considering our lack of depth in centre mid at the moment though, Louis Thompson injury probably helped his cause somewhat?
