Well we are apparently willing to spend £8m on a 29 year old Naismith without considering resale value.

And Jamie Vardy didn't have any Premier League experience until 18 months ago.

The success rate of strikers stepping up from the Championship in recent years seems to suggest that buying from that division is lower risk than buying from overseas.

Austin, Ings, Vardy, Deeney, Ighalo, Wilson.

Easy to see why Bournemouth would prepared to drop £10m on a Championship striker considering the evidence on the table that the gulf in class has closed.

We could of course spend £8.6m on another 'promising' foreign striker with resale value and his best years ahead of him. Then continue to pay part of his wages whilst he sits on the bench for Real Betis waiting for his contract to run down so we can be shot of him.

no proof he would do any good in premiership nor fit in our tactics etc.
Can't think of any player that meets that criteria, proven in the Premier League and guaranteed that he'd respond well to our tactics?

Never any guarantees that any transfer would be a success.

Naismith is playing Everton and as I said before I'm not too exited about him. Thought he has proven record in premiership.

Vardy, Deeney,  Austin and Ighalo came trough the ranks of their current team. That is big difference, not to mention Austin and Ighalo are at their prime age. They are good as Holt was for us, but their level is still unproven outaide their current teams.

Ings is young player and taking risk like him would be worth of it, but still  he hasn't shown anything unusual yet because the hard competition. Same goes for Wilson, but he at least have a track record.

Anyway I'm not criticizing championship as a source, but the stature of player.

My point was that 29 year old that doesnt have single Premier League game under his belt is not worth the risk and money we would need to get him middle of the season with long contract and from the club which have no good reason to sell.

Freebie with his stature or cheap experienced  similar option from our league rivals mayby to just give us third decent option, but with current facts that signing just wouldnt make any sense and wouldn't build our squad for the future. We would have to replace him anyway in next few years.

Just saw the name of Chris Martin mentioned.

What would we think about that?

(Not the one from Coldplay, by the way!)

Developed very well at Derby - whilst he was at Norwich who saw him being able to effectively play the lone striker well?

I'm not sure if he's good enough for the Premiership though.

You're probably right. It wasn't any kind of source by the way, just saw the name and realised that I hadn't considered him at all.

Hard one. His age and stats are both decent, but then the fact he almost never fulfilled his potential on the field for us and his lack of work rate and lack of physical attributes just screams no for me. Also he looks like he almost got manboobs so it puts a question how well he trains.

Would love to have our own yout product and see him succeed, but do we get enough chances to make those scrappy goal chances for him and can we afford to have a player who can be out of game most part of the game.

most natural finisher I've seen at the club in years, but I'm not sure he'd fit into Neil's system anyway, don't think he has the physical attributes to play as the lone striker, and isn't as talented as Wes when playing in the hole, which would mean playing him alongside someone else, I'd quite like to see him play alongside Jerome as I feel that would work really well together but it would almost certainly mean leaving Wes out which is something I'd rather we didn't do too often

No to martin for me;   would be a squad filler when I want any striker signing to be a starter ahead of jerome and mbokani.

AN has just been on SSN talking about Grabban. He said he had basically run his course and wasn't involved or in the squad so it made sense to get some money from him.

That is fine but I have to ask why he was picked against Arsenal and Watford. That might well have alienated Jerome and Mbokani.

The relationship didn't sour overnight surely?

I keep replaying what SSN are saying and it still sounds like she is saying "Grabban couldn't play for Bournemouth against Norwich on Saturday"

Just saying it how it is, Van Wolfswinkel was a disaster of a signing and all evidence since leaving suggests he was massively over rated before we signed him.

Chris Martin doesn't strike me as an Alex Neil type of player at all.

His link up play and finishing is great, but he doesn't cover much ground and is more of a stationary pivot player that everybody else plays around.

Don't have good vibes about that one to be honest, can't see it working out.
